1. Having an Ames wedding next summer. Places are booked. Now trying to figure out good spots to have a rehearsal dinner. We are completely fine with informal and cheap. I've even considered having it at a park. Anyone have good experiences anywhere around Ames? Also open to positive experiences at more formal places as well.

2. Looking for a bus for the wedding party for in between the ceremony and reception. Any good ideas?

I'm getting married in a couple of weeks and we are having our rehearsal dinner at Olde Main. We are using prpartylines.com for our bus. They are pretty reasonable, but they are out of Des Moines so you have to pay for travel.

I hope this helps.

15 years ago we wanted our rehearsal dinner at Brookside park, but it was on the 4th of July so was booked with city activities. We ended up at Emma McCarthy Lee Park off North Dakota. It worked out fine for us, we had Hy Vee cater it. My sister had her rehearsal at Brookside, there are quite a few shelter options. Moore Park is the one close to Veenker, just walked by it today.

Our rehearsal was at Perfect Games. There were a lot of kids involved so it was nice they had something to do. Everyone else loves pizza and beer.

Neat idea. They just reserve that room they have for you or something?

Hickory Park catering is extremely reasonable.
Check out maybe having the rehearsal somewhere like Open Flame in Gilbert.

Did ours rehearsal dinner at Welch Avenue Station a month and a half ago... Free rental and pizza is cheaper the more you buy and the bar is availible if you want it it....cheap and easy and informal...I would recommend it to save mucho bucks.

Had our rehearsal dinner in one of the banquet rooms at the MU overlooking the Pederson fountain of the four seasons. Many people have told me it was memorable (met my wife through our jobs at the MU.)

I've been to a rehearsal dinner at Rieman Gardens. Nice location.

Bus: Contact CIT, Central Iowa Transit. John is the owner / manager and he will shoot you a good price.
I thought CIT lost their contract with the city of Ames and now it's Midwest?
