When I first got the postcard from TX, I thought it was a scam, now I am getting e-mails. Anyway, they know darn well I am an alumni, and have all my current information, so I was looking at this as another opportunity to hit me up for donations. If they want me to update my information, give me a web site to do it myself, so I know it is right. What has everyone else done?

Did you purchase the new alumni directory?

I called. They put me on hold. I hung up. I am fairly sure it isn't a scam, but it is an attempt to sell you a directory, which I think is the main goal. My high school also did this.

Tossed the card. The card made it to my address. They know where they can find me. More chances to sell goods....

An alumni directory sounds horrible. Now all those crazy and fat chicks that you promised to call back can be waiting for you at your house someday.

I know the internet already does this but just go with it.

Okay, thanks for the input. I am not really happy with the Alumni Association anyway. 20 years ago they hit me up to become a lifetime member, so they wouldn't call me for money every year. Seemed like a good idea to me, but now I get calls from the business department, for "special Projects", etc.

I called. I verified. They asked me if I wanted to buy one, I said no and they thanked me for calling. It took 90 seconds from start to finish.

I often notice that the people who fail to respond to these things are the first ones to complain that they didn't get notice of something or that they can't believe ISU is so incompetent that they didn't have the right email address or phone number for them.

I did it, but didn't buy a directory. They send these little yellow cards out every 5 years to update everyone's information. My fraternity headquarters does the same thing with, I think, the same company. It's not a scam. There's an online directory in the ISUAA website anyway, so I don't really see the point in purchasing a hard copy or a flash drive version.

FAQ on all of this:
http://www.isualum.org/index.cfm?nodeID=17978&audienceID=1

Update your information online:
http://cyspace.isualum.org/s/565/index.aspx?sid=565&gid=1&pgid=1481&cid=2123&post_id=0

If you are an ISUAA member you can log on and view your information on "file":
https://securelb.imodules.com/s/565...565/index.aspx?sid=565&gid=1&logout=1&sid=565

Why update your information? Want to know about any local ISU events like gamewatches, golf outings, happy hours etc than we need your current email and zip code. Here in the Twin Cities we have over 10,000 alumni but an email and Twin Cities zip code for only 5,000. Anytime I send out something via ISUAA for local events (upcoming June happy hour or July golf outing vs. Iowa) it misses 50% of the potential audience. Fine if you want to remain anonymous but I hear complaints all the time on "Why didn't I hear about this or that" and I ask them if they have updated information. I'll look up their name and it shows no email or an email but an old address in Illinois or something that is not going to query up for emails to Twin Cities alumni.

I wasn't contacted. Maybe when you have ignored this stuff for decades they finally give up?

I figured this was just a way for ISU to get more info and try to market to me. I am so sick of them calling begging for money. I just ignore everything from ISU except the cyclone club or ticket office anymore.

I threw away the postcards and deleted the e-mail. I assumed they were trying to verify my info since I ignore the hundreds of phone calls begging for money
