Good grief, when did this thread turn into a Husker hate fest that is filled with such misinformation that it's pathetic? But if you choose to have this thread spiral off topic, I guess that's what we are going to do:
1 - on getting rid of the Blackshirts, gotta a link to back that up? To the best of my memory, I don't recall Callahan ever wanting to get rid of the Blackshirt tradition, which is nothing more than starters wearing black jerseys in practice, FWIW, the tradition began in the 1960's when Devaney sent an assistant coach to the store to get practice jerseys.
2 - What do you mean by use of the tunnel walk was in question? Did Callahan use it as a recruiting tool in his first year? Hell yes he did and it was perfectly legal by the NCAA. If you have a tradition like the Tunnel Walk, why wouldn't you use it as a recruiting tool?
3 - For just as many former Huskers who openly critize Coach Callahan & Steve Pederson (Scott Frost wrote a scathing blog for the Lincoln paper following last year's Kansas game and the next time he was heard from, was early this year (after the Bowl game and a 3 game winning streak to end the season none the less) when he went to KSU to be a GA), many more former players and coaches support Callahan & Steve Pederson (former assistant coaches Milt Tenoipr & Charlie McBride and former Husker QB Tommie Frazier just to name a few).
4 - Big deal if Coach Callahan shouted ****ing hillbillies. The late, great Bob Devaney had just as much fire as Callahan does, only difference is that we sadly live in a politcally correct society.
5 - 180 walk ons? Don't you think that's just a tad too many? When Callahan first arrived in Lincoln, he and his staff were blown away by the number of walk ons and in Callahan's 3 years in Lincoln yes, the walkon program has been trimmed, it's alive and kicking, case in point, since Callahan arrived in Lincoln, 16 former walkon's have been placed on scholarship, 12 are instate kids and 9 are from small schools (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=1&SPID=22&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=528011)
6 - Joe Dailey, how fitting the last time Husker fans saw Dailey in a Husker uniform, was in the 2005 spring game when he was throwing an INT that was returned for a TD. Look, as is the case this fall, in the spring of 2005, Coach Callahan has stated that the depth chart get's thrown out the window, he wants the best player on the team to start. Zac Taylor was that best person.
7 - Grant Mulkey - he was dismissed from the team for undisclosed reasons. Shortly after, without revealving what rules were violated, Mulkey publically apoligized to the coaches, players, and fans. http://bbs.bigredboard.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14407
8 - Actually Grixby played defensive back in high school (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=4&SPID=22&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=68186&Q_SEASON=2006) and was recruited as a CB (http://nebraska.rivals.com/commitlist.asp)
9 What's wrong with moving Fluellen to DB? He's had an injury plagued carrer and has played DB in high school (http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=4&SPID=22&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=970&Q_SEASON=2006)
Using your logic, it sure was a shame that Austin Flynn was less talented than Brett Meyer and in order for Flynn to see anyting PT, he was asked to change posistions.

I seem to remember that Bill Callahan wanted to get rid of the black shirts at first, use tunnel walk was in question, championship alumni were not treated with respect, Okahoma fans were ***** hillbillies, the 160-180 man squad with a lot of Nebraska walkons from little schools quickly became a short list of 105 players, Joe Dailey went flying back east, Grant Mulkey disappeared in a jiffy, and local kid Isiah Fluellin became defensive, and localkid Grixby became defensive as tons of West Copast recruits flocked to the hinterlands. Yes, I see a little bit of comparisonm between Ron Prince and Bill C. My way or the highway. Win at all costs. Must say this a slightly different approach than that of McC. Loots like the Solich boys are stuck palying defense for the Callahan offensive boy from out West. With all the sswitching, the football recognition did not come to nebraska players last year. Hats off to Adam Carriker for sticking it out.
PS - After Matt, I did not know Nebraska had a tight end.
