I'd eat my shorts if Todd Doxon EVER ran a 4.1. He was fast for sure, but the fastest guys in the NFL draft hardly ever run under 4.3. Hayward-Bay was a top 10 pick because he ran a 4.3. I'm betting someone was a little quick on the stopwatch with Doxon.
celoni played for stapelton in the early 60's. larry vanderheyden was a star lineman for the dirty 30 and would be a top selection for an outstanding lineman at isu.celoni when he first became elgible for the varsity was quite a blowhard that he was going to beat vanderheyden out of his starting assignment on the offensive lne.larry v. got wind of celoni's bragging remerks and if i remember right vanderheyden literallly kicked celoni's arse in a very good arse kicking by larry v. over windbag celoni.
bret meyer was a ton better than most will give him credit for.
He is like top 5 all time big 12 passing yards
He also played on some bad teams and had two seasons with coaches that were either leaving or just coming...
He led us to two good bowl games and nearly two division titles
and he started all 4 years
Dont give the argument that he didn't improve from freshman to senior because i guarentee you he did, but the players around him were young and the coaching staff was even younger...
Awesome heres the wild card at QB, Marv Seiler! Ik that Seneca and Sage are legitimately better but seriously theres no way they could do that against a Nebraska team coached by Tom Osborne . And for a kicker, Carl Gomez
Gomez...didn't he miss a Kick vs Oklahoma? Or am I thinking of someone else who was usually reliable and had range, but missed one really important kick (there are so many to choose from).
Only A-C...

Special shout out to Larry Crawford who roamed the sidelines in the wild days of the CFL and had incredible longevity in a tough time for defenses back then.

Alex Espinosa should be in the discussion. Dwayne Crutchfield and Blaise Bryant after the davis boys. The best reciever I have ever seen in an Iowa State uniform is Tracy Henderson.
I evidently don't go back as far as you do, but here's my vote...but I for the most part have fairly recent players:
QB: Wallace, Archer, Rosenfels
RB: Troy Davis, Ennis Haywood, Crutchfield, Blaise Bryant, Joe Henderson
WR: Tracy Henderson, Horacek, Groce
WR: Danielsen, Lester, Chris Anthony
WR: Blythe, Ed Williams, JJ Moses
TE: Busch, Krepfle, Banks
OT: Karl Nelson, Ross, Kohn, Brant, Stensrud, Marsau
OG: Sims, Williams, Reimers, Lo White
OC: Bruns, Augafa, Butler, Stephenson
DE: Hayward, Berryman, DeRonde, Moorehead
DT: Stensrud, Carstens, Reed, Leaders, Randall, Curvey
LB: Blair, Dobbins, Gibson, Boskey, Goodwin, Shane, Bowen
CB: Robertson, Hobbs, Hicks, LJ, Deandre Jackson
S: DouBrava, Billups, Moser, Paris, Arnaud, Avey
PR: McMillan, Moses, Todd Miller
KR: Hobbs, LJ, Branch, Milan Moses
K: Shudak, Kohl, Benike
P: Harris, Johnston, Brandtner
I did a search, but didn't find a thread for the best Iowa State football players of all time. I'm looking to assemble an entire team. I need Name (obviously), Number, and Position. It would be good to go at least 2 deep.
Post your submission and I will update the list as we go.
Thanks!
