You forgot Sedrick johnson :biglaugh:
I would have put Al, Brian, Bruce, Harry, Jock, JV, Lyell, Nick, Randono, Russell, Steve, Ted, Wendell, or myself on the list before Sedrick.
I would have even slipped in Judge or WD Johnston in first :dull:
You forgot Sedrick johnson :biglaugh:
mooked, can't help you on any numbers. the reason bones is not listed is because he played on a skeleton squad during world war 2 when i believe we did not have a football team.i like hoppman over nichols because i think hoppy was a better athlete than dwight.i also think hoppy was a little better running back than dwight and had a little more swagger in his personality.these are just my observations knowing both of these athletes.
larry vanderheyden was probably one on the best athletes on the dirty thirty.larry had a super leadership quality about him and was a very good all around athlete.he was an excellent all around baseball player for coach cap timm, who was the cyclone baseball coach in the 50's and early 60's.
Jim Doran: 83
51: Jeff Braswell was better in college than Oliver Ross, but Ross obviously has had a better pro career.
Jon Cooper: 18
As far as Jack Trice is concerned, there aren't any records of jersey numbers prior to 1925.
Edit #1 is about to happen ... Jim Doran is far greater than Jamaul Montgomery at 83
Additionally for Doran...he put up 203 receiving yards against Oklahoma -- in 1949! That mark stood for 35 years, until Tracy Henderson (#89) torched A&M for 217 in 1984.
mookinlincoln-
i have a little story to tell you about my good friend larry vanderheyden.
we had a fairly good player report for cyclone football from wisconsin by the name of dan celoni-that bragged that he was going to whip a guy called larry vanderheyden any time any place for his spot on the dirty thirty football team. i don't have to tell you who got his arse kicked and who won that battle-CELONI FOUND OUT THAT OLE LVD WAS A VERY GOOD SCRAPPER WITH
HIS PUGILISTIC FISTS BESIDES BEING A DAMNED GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER,TOO.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whitver was #26, Don't forget James McMillion, maybe the best returner in ISU history. Problem is I think he was #1. He was a stud.
I think you could argue Blythe was the best reciever we ever had.
Brain fart night, but wasn't Double-D #2. I gotta say he was better than Ennis.
No kidding. And you don't even have Bret Culbertson as one of them.:biglaugh:http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1831780072&ref=search&sid=332300161.1775464352..1too many kickers on there too :biglaugh:
