mooked, can't help you on any numbers. the reason bones is not listed is because he played on a skeleton squad during world war 2 when i believe we did not have a football team.i like hoppman over nichols because i think hoppy was a better athlete than dwight.i also think hoppy was a little better running back than dwight and had a little more swagger in his personality.these are just my observations knowing both of these athletes.

larry vanderheyden was probably one on the best athletes on the dirty thirty.larry had a super leadership quality about him and was a very good all around athlete.he was an excellent all around baseball player for coach cap timm, who was the cyclone baseball coach in the 50's and early 60's.

Jim Doran: 83

51: Jeff Braswell was better in college than Oliver Ross, but Ross obviously has had a better pro career.

John Cooper: 18

As far as Jack Trice is concerned, there aren't any records of jersey numbers prior to 1925.

Your knowledge of Hoppmann and Van Der Heyden are leading me toward changing numbers 16 and 73 ... anyone care to refute the argument of Mr. Woodie???

Edit #1 is about to happen ... Jim Doran is far greater than Jamaul Montgomery at 83

Thank you shadow!

I'm also very close to changing 51 from Ross to Braswell ... anyone else want to comment on this one?

Cooper doesn't stack up to those quarterbacks IMO, it's still between Sage, Archer and Quinn ... I go Sage because of the bowl win

Additionally for Doran...he put up 203 receiving yards against Oklahoma -- in 1949! That mark stood for 35 years, until Tracy Henderson (#89) torched A&M for 217 in 1984.

That is CRAZY impressive for 1949 ... I would have had Doran near the top of my receiver list before, but I didn't have a number to slot him in with

Thanks again shadow!!!

Ok, I have a good friend who graduted from ISU in 87 or 88. Can anyone confirm or deny that Tracy Henderson could one arm curl 100lbs. Also said that he saw the monster heavyweight wrestler (who's name slips my mind) from that era clean a bar out road house style.

Whitver was #26, Don't forget James McMillion, maybe the best returner in ISU history. Problem is I think he was #1. He was a stud.

The Eel was 86 for three years before he was #1 ... I actually had Tyson Smith ahead of Blythe and McMillion, but Blythe is such a fan fav I had to put him in at #1 ... I could be convinced to put the Eel in ahead of Dennis Ross at #86, but Ross pretty much single-handedly won the game vs. UNI in 1988 and that really sticks with me - can't handle losing to Iowa Jr.

Whitver was a nice player, but Schwartz was first team All-Big Eight in 1978 and 1979

Ty Whatley was real good, but do his stats support where you have him ranked. Was it him or Groce that came from Pacific after they dropped football? I think it was Pacific.

Deandre Jackson for Arnaud. Forgot all about him. One of the best corners we ever had. Injury or not I think I take him over Arnaud.
