Jameis Winston: AJ McCarron's Mom Sends Interesting Tweet About FSU QB

Yet another lesson of step away from the keyboard before you tweet.

While I agree Jameis is not the best public speaker, the mom, of a white QB, in Alabama who's son got beaten out by an African American QB for the Heisman, would be smart to measure her words.

The fact she took it down, is pretty much admitting she F'd up, but in the cruel world of twitter people take screen shots before you can fix a mistake.

On a side note Dee Dee, has a great plastic surgeon.

I'm not ashamed to admit I had similar thoughts. Does Winston Winston have an anxiety disorder, or speech impediment - if so, then it would have been inappropriate to tweet, otherwise I'm fine with my impression because it's not racist and neither am I.

What's racist about it? I've noticed before in post-game interviews that the kid gives horrible interviews. He comes off as illiterate. If that's racist, it's a YOU problem, because you are obviously injecting your bias into it.

Guy never interviews very well. Sounds like the kid academically is a pretty solid student. Some people just are not comfortable doing interviews.

Point is people don't need to tweet about everything, especially given the circumstances I mentioned. I don't think she is racist, but she is now going to be painted as one.

And of course AJ's girlfriend slaps a favorite on the mom's post, is now back tracking saying it was a mistake she did not intend to tag it as a favorite.

Tweeting in anger, provides all kinds of fodder for the world to see.

Race has nothing to do with it. Winston was not a good speaker last night at least, maybe he was just overwhelmed by all the excitement but he didn't sound particularly coherent at times. Still a stupid thing for AJ's mom to say though.

Ever listen to Bill Walton back in his college days? Some athletes are just plain incoherent. They're jocks, not politicians. That said, I have the same impression listening to many of the post game interviews on TV & radio - "once more, this time in English?". Quite frankly, some of the coaches are just as bad!

Winston did sound like a complete buffoon in those interviews. however, I probably would have sounded like an idiot too if I were interviewed as an 18 year old who just won a national title. probably not as bad as that, but bad.

I had no problem understanding what he was saying but just found him nauseating anyway. Given his legal issues, all of his "godliness" just came across poorly. Even though I was thrilled the SEC lost, couldn't stand him. And he sure didn't seem like the best player in college football to me. Frankly, I would have given the kick returner the MVP and was most impressed with Auburn's punter.

He speaks better than TD and DD did when they were here. I could never understand a word they said.

Bill Walton was getting stoned on a regular basis during his college days, (and still does to this day) so I will always cut the big redhead some slack. :)

I can get not being overwhelmed with Winston last night, but you were most impressed with the punter? I suppose Tre Mason didn't do anything to impress. That guy is a baller.

But to get back on topic, I must have missed the interview everyone's talking about. I watched the one on the field with Rinaldi and didn't see what the big deal was; I didn't have any trouble understanding him. He sounded like an 18 year old kid who could barely believe what just happened and was struggling to keep his thoughts together. I had a much easier time understanding him than I do about 2/3 of NASCAR.

He isn't polished but it was poor taste regardless for the mother of another heisman candidate to blast him for his English. Additionally perception matters and if you are a white women from Alabama publically critiquing a southern African American (who imo was not difficult to follow) but clearly has rural african american colloquial speech pattern it is going to come off as racially motivated whether it was or wasn't. I thought that when he was speaking he was genuine albeit not the most polished speaker and if I was in a room with her and she said it nobody would think twice about it. However, it is hard to remove that history and the stereotype of southern whites as racist from a public dialog, especially in regards to a rural southern african american. Fair or unfair it was really dumb to say on multiple levels.

One of my favorite responses to Dee Dee's tweet. (Gotta love Twitter )

Ironically, Dee Dee McCarron has misspelled the English word "feisty" in her bio. No joke.

Couldn't disagree with you more. White guilt sucks.

Edit: and I am very outspoken on matters of racism also. This is nowhere close to racism.
