Just was going to being that tweet from Barreiro at KFAN. Barreiro is in Flip's inner circle so fairly certain Fred is not the choice at this juncture. As we have all speculated, in 10 years Fred might jump at this opportunity but not now; not yet.

If Thibodeau leaves Chicago, don't be surprised for the Bulls to make a push for Fred. Fred and Gar Forman are very good friends.

Not saying Fred leaves, just something to watch for.

Everyone is "very good friends" with Fred. It's a stupid assumption.

Gar bought Fred's house in Chicago. So don't think that's an assumption there, pal.

I didn't say they weren't friends. I said it's stupid to assume just because everyone knows Fred that he is automatically the first on the call list.

If Fred is frustrated with college recruiting is frustrating for Hoiberg, I'm sure he'd love working for a Bulls front office that pulls **** like that Deng trade in the middle of the season.

Here's my thinking. The T-Wolves knew the move was coming. As such, I assume they already reached out to Fred. It's my guess, he already turned them down. Otherwise why not wait 1/2 weeks to sign the new contract with ISU until after speaking with Minnesota? There was no rush to sign the raise and clearly the T-Wolves were going to have an opening.

Never stated Fred was on the automatically first call list from the Bulls. Just said don't be surprised to see the Bulls interested if TT does leave. Fred isn't going to leave for the Timberwolves or Bulls. Just something to keep an eye out for.

And would much rather have my coach drawing NBA interest, more publicity for the school and basketball program and more draw to recruits.

I'm sure they reached out and he said he's not interested at this time. He's a fan just like you and me and he wants to build his favorite school and home into something more special than it already is.

The next head coach of the Wolves will be their 11th coach in 25 years with only Saunders lasting 10 years - Fred understands this 'great' job better than anyone, and the lack of security, and will make the right choice for his family...

Have you ever had to explain to your kids why you are moving for the upteenth time? How they will have to say goodbye to all their friends and move back to the cold barren wasteland that is Minnesota?

Do you realize it just snowed 4 inches in Minnesota this morning?

Do you realize how much money you could save by switching to Geico?

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, then grab your ankles and wait for the paddlin.

I live just north of the TC's and it snowed 13 inches at my place, and Nowthen, MN got 17. Just saying.

I think the whole "Fred is close with some of the players/staff" angle is weak weak weak. So he's friends with them... big deal. His family, and his wife's family is in Ames. He grew up a Cyclone. He's close with the guys he's recruited and is more invested in helping them become successful young men than he is with high-fiving Kevin Love for a short time until he bolts for greener pastures. If you hear guys like Barreiro and Paul Allen speculating about Freddy (and yes those radio guys are plugged in...), you have to realize they don't understand the Ames/ISU/family angle. They think that in general the pull of the pro level and the money is greater than coaching at your alma mater. In many cases it is, but they don't understand the motivations, investments, etc... of Fred's situation.

He ain't leaving anytime soon. I'm in the camp of he's in Ames at least until his kids are done with college. And my feeling is he stays at ISU until he retires.

There are guys like Izzo, Coach K, etc who understand just how good they have it. I think with the success brewing in Ames, that Fred is going to be in that same mold - content in building a storied program at a school he loves. Who knows if we'll see the success of a Duke or a MichSt, but I think Ames will be a destination soon. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

Tweet yesterday -

Not sure when the timing is right to go to a coaching graveyard in a market that has the odds stacked against you because of the salary structure of the league. Maybe if the ping pong balls fall right a couple years in a row it would be OK. However it will still not change the fact that the position entails being the owner and the players' b#*%$ simultaneously. Then again it is probably reassuring knowing if it doesn't work out ISU or other schools would hire him.
