Soo...

We keep saying someone has to leave - but we're missing the fact that we have 4 transfers coming in (Amardi, Edozie, Hogue and Bluford) and maybe, just MAYBE one of them won't even make it to the court? Perhaps some fallout from all the scuttlebutt over at IHCC last month?

Just speculating - but that would be my guess if I had to make one.

Okay, since everyone else is guessing-

I think Fred flashed his winning smile at the NCAA and they gave him an extra scholarship to work with.

I'm so sick of the speculation every year about who is transferring. It's really disrespectful to do that to any member of the current team.

Would we be over scholly limit? Yes
is it highly likely someone will transfer? Yes
do any of us need to name every player and why we think he would or should transfer? No

Thank you. Well said.

I hope not. This team needs Hogue next season. maybe even Armadi too. People have said Bluford hasn't signed yet, maybe he is looking elsewhere and Fred is getting a backup plan. Who knows.

This is the most reasonable explanation I have read yet about where the scholarship is coming from.

Freds a smart dude who I'm pretty sure is capable of counting to 13. If there is interest, I'm sure he knows something we do not. Its probably not fair to speculate on who may be leaving though.

I love the transfer route. Its not like he is completely relying on them like he was his first couple years. If we have room available, go find the best players you can.

I am fine with transfers as long as the talent it coming our way and not leaving--distinct difference between the last two coaches (and I was a McDermott fan).

Anyone know if we are still showing interest in Emmanuel Malou? He visited in February.

Tinsley was a transfer. I'd say that worked out OK for us.

Transfers are a fact of life now. You can live in the past and try and do things the old way, or get with the times and do what it takes to be successful in today's NCAA.

Fred is ahead of the curve on this.

This guy was who I wanted to see Fred land before we got Bluford. But who knows....

Tinsley was not a transfer. He was a juco and then came to ISU.

Sorry JUCO's and transfers are different. As a JUCO you only can play 1-2 years at a school. Transfers are from one NCAA school to another and must sit out a year.

Tinsley didn't transfer and sit out a year. Exhausted his eligibility at Mt. San Jacinto Community College and then enrolled at Iowa State and played right away.

I'm sure we'd have no problem finding a scholarship. If nothing else Bubu can go back to being a walkon. Does anyone actually think nobody on our roster will transfer out and all the recruits currently committed will make it to campus? How long ago has it been since that happened?

How is that the "right" way? I am pretty sure what Fred Hoiberg has done these past 3 years qualifies as the right way to build a progrma.

Lots of short people around here today (things going right over your heads).

Hoks are always talking about the 'right' way to build a program - hint, they don't think transfers are it...
