Relax.
So have you actually read the article then?
And have you seen the general state of journalism lately, sports and otherwise? If you are demanding that we have our own separate beat writer before declaring that anything written about us can be legitimate you're in for a long wait. Just seems like a strange hill to make a stand on.
I'm very relaxed and, no, I haven't read the article yet. I'm not an Athletic subscriber and I'm not smart enough to know how to pirate the article.
It's wonderful the article turned out to be such a positive piece, despite its opening sentence. And that opening statement may be completely true, but it's like your annoying neighbor saying to you in front of many other people "Hey, given your wife's lifelong struggles with her weight, it's really amazing she is able to fit into that dress now."
I guess I just have a thing about backhanded compliments. I guess I also have a thing about supporting a publication who feels my favorite university isn't worthy of having its own dedicated writer. I already have far too many monthly subscriptions, so I'm not going to support a magazine that chooses to cover Iowa State with a beat writer from its rival team. Nothing to do with 'little brother' complex, just a matter of principle.
Edit: I just now read the article since someone provided a free version, and it is indeed extremely positive. Nice work by Iowa's beat writer.
