A long-running joke is no more. Olive Garden is coming to Ames.

I wish we would get Romano's Macaroni Grill back in Iowa again. It was far superior food than Olive Garden. Used to have one in West Des Moines in the early 2000's that I miss.
It was still in business around 2013 or so. Closed down, then they tore the building down and built the Chick-fil-A. We would eat there almost always as opposed to going to OG or Biaggi's. Rock Bottom was right next door, too. Losing both of those really sucked.

It was our go to place when we lived in Waukee. Good food and service and I would hit Golf Galxy and meet my wife at the Barnes and Noble.

Wow, that’s a pretty severe hit. I became lactose intolerant about 20 years ago but have learned how to counter a lot of the severe effects. As long as it isn’t milk or I haven’t had any other more solid types of dairy I can work around it and not be in the bathroom for 12 hours in pure pain.

I just wish the mom would figure it out, we make special provisions for him when we make team meals at away games but he usually ends up eating the regular stuff when his mom isn’t looking. If he isn’t, then we wouldn’t have to worry about it since no one else is.
Sounds like the mom is the one with the illness

I like chain sit-down restaurants more than local places...

Haha, just kidding.

Happy April Fools' Day!

I won't stand for this Olive Garden slander.

We ate at a very nice Italian restaurant in the Third Ward last weekend in Milwaukee. A simple, delicious lunch with two glasses of wine was $120 after tip but the scallops made my wife sick. That never happens at the OG.

My son got so sick after we ate at that very Macaroni Grill once. Puked all over our van on Interstate 80 on the drive home. Had to have it professionally cleaned.

Just an anecdote, not data, but it’s the first thing I think of when I hear “Macaroni Grill.”
