90's without a doubt. Such a broad range. You start the decade with groups like Public Enemy. The start of the decade has such a crazy mix of talent like NWA, Tribe, Dre, 2pac, Wu Tang, Beastie Boys, etc. You move into the mid 90's with Biggie, NAS, Fugees, etc. The end of the 90's dropped off a little in quality but you had artists like Jay-Z becoming more popular.

Late 90’s definitely a transition period from the real WC Gangster rap to No Limit, Cash Money, OutKast. Then a chronic 2001 came out and THAT is the best rap album ever made imo. It was kind of the eulogy for gangster rap. Dre was a smart guy. Ended gangster rap and ejected Eminem in to the stratosphere in one record.

Oh you’re one of THOSE music people. The influence is more important than the music person. I only listen to Christian Gospel music because that has influenced every kind of music ever made as I look down upon you through my wire aviator style non-prescription glasses.

Several of my current rap favorites on here. Add in Earl Sweatshirt, RTJ, Chance, Gambino, J Cole. Thundercat is amazing, really enjoy Joey Purp and Vince Staples.

Original Chronic as pivotal in bringing production and a whole musical experience to rap. I love almost everything on it. However, Snoop is arguably a way better rapper than Dre.

Best rap album of all time is a tough one. Stankonia, Biggie’s Ready to Die, TPAB are all top contenders. Maybe Enter the Wu-Tang, or early Jay-Z or Nas.

Missy Elliott deserves recognition for running **** in the early 00s in a very male game.

It's probably too hard to pick one single best album from an entire genre, but gun to my head I had to pick one I'd have a hard time not picking Illmatic. It's still so good, every single track is just ******* good, and it doesn't go on too long. It's just like bam, here's 40 minutes of brilliant music and then we're done.
