5-7 Bowl?

I was listening to Chris this afternoon and he brought up the possibility of us getting in a bowl with 5 wins and 7 losses. Traditionally 6 wins is how you get bowl eligible, but he brought up how there were 2 bowls added. If we somehow can finish top 6 in the conference, I think it's possible but not likely (30% chance IMHO depending on what happens everywhere else). ISU fans traveling well may factor as well. Thoughts?

Paul would have to buy my old Liberty Bowl sweatshirt, flat-brimmed hat with the tags still on it, and collector water bottle first before I would drive past St. Louis to see him lose to a well-prepared, well-coached Ohio Bobcat team.

Where are these bowls that you speak of?

The Cure Bowl (Orlando) and the Arizona Bowl (Tucson)

st louis as in "no further south" or st louis as in "no further east"?

are you talking a radius of ames to st louis as your gauge here?

let's get into the details that matter.

I feel like a 5-7 bowl team is like making the play-in game in the NCAA tourney.

Actually I feel like a 5-7 bowl team is like being happy about making an NIT run, and every bowl game that's prior to 12/30 is like making the play-in game.

I suppose it would be good for the team, players, and experience and all...I just don't feel like much has been achieved when you can't even gain a winning season from an extra game.

An NIT/5 win/crappy bowl team is better than the last couple of years. I'll take it

There is actually a formula for transitive wins, game control, bowl victories, vacated bowl games and academic scandals at the big schools that could see a five loss team with a top five APR be named National Champions.

Do we get a participation ribbon for showing up in conference play this year?

Do I like the idea of a 5-7 team going to a bowl? No.

Do any bowls outside of the Playoffs/New Year's 6 mean anything? No.

Might as well go. Give me an excuse to go somewhere nice (No Detroit, please) and extra practice for the youngins. Might as well.

Still have to get there though.
