Really enjoyed this interview. Steve Young's career was basically the inverse of Brock Purdy's. He was a huge college star from BYU, a #1 pick. But he didn't start for the 49ers until his 8th year as a pro, following 2 years in the USFL, one with Tampa Bay, and 4 riding the pine behind Joe Montana.
Of course, the 49ers - Cowboys rivalry of the 80s and 90s was truly epic. And so was the the rivalry of Steve Young and Troy Aikman. Speaking of Troy Aikman, here is his interview on the same Rich Eisen show:

EDIT: At around 14:00, Troy relates that his OC at UCLA went on to coach Brock Purdy's HS team in AZ. Amazing stuff. Troy also has some Big 12 lineage, having played brieflu at OU before transferring to UCLA. And I guess, having played at BYU, Steve Young , might get some honorary Big 12 historic stat cred, given the Cougar's are joining up next year.

Skip Bayless' analysis of Brock (@ 18:40) is interesting. I think I would have agreed with him for the most part, knowing what I know from 4 years at ISU, but it seems like Purdy is different in some way. I hope Skippy eats his words.
