We started 5-0 in 1980 and ended up 6-5. Worth keeping in mind.

Yeah the next one I really want to get rid of is the "never had a 10 win season"

I hate when people talk about "10 win season" without acknowledging teams are playing 12-16 games now compared to 8 to 11 for the majority of the history of the sport. Also when they ignore our best team was a recent 9 win team that had to give up two non-conference games or likely would have been 10/11 win team. The 2020 team was absolutely no worse than if we get to 10-3 or 10-4 or 11-3 this year.

The only real historical markers in college football are outright conference championships, major bowl wins and very recently CFP wins. Granted we're not great by that measure either (historically horrible actually) but at least it makes sense rather than bs like "10 wins" or "January bowl game that's actually the Liquid Plumber Bowl".

Know a guy that was on that team. They had a lot of talent and they were not a team you wanted to play early in the year, same thing with the 81’ team that climbed to 11th in the rankings. But they didn’t have much for strength and conditioning. He joked by mid October they were done. Injuries would mount and they would wear out.

Ya… I only know by looking at the historical schedules. Don’t remember anything before the Walden years (wish I didn’t remember those! )….

Crutchfield running 45 times a game wasn't sustainable.

Every other team that has ever been a member of the Big XII has had double digit win seasons multiple times, and most of those achieved it 50 years ago or more. It sucks our best team got robbed because of covid, but they lost to a team they never should have to start the season and the next year **** the bed with basically the same team returning. It's pretty sad ISU hasn't gotten it done yet.

And I think it’s pretty sad Iowa hasn’t won a BCS or NY6 bowl in 15 years. Who’s to say which is sadder.
