I played the same game. You could lump 1/3 of ISU's football history into the painful category and you might be underestimating it.
i remember one painful loss at iowa stae in clyde williams field.
i believe it was in 1956 when iowa state played oklahoma.i think vince defrancesca
was the iowa state coach.we played oklahoma and they had their great coa ch bud wilkinson who had the longest winning record in football. our whole high school football team was there to watch the game.i was only a high school soph and i saw one of the most electrifying running backs i have ever seen play tailback for the sooners....
his name was tommy mcdonald and he probably clobbered us for 250-300 yds that day.
the score was 63-0 in favor of the sooners.
wilkinson has to be one of the greatest college football coaches ever to win i think47 games straight.
in 57 we had a coach for one year that assembled our great dirty 30.he left after one year and went to work for tom landry.
in 58 we inherited clay stapelton who coached the dirty 30.
i have a question,"did tommy mcdonald ever win the heisman?????"
CHEERS!GO CYCLONES!!!!!!
