Anyone else watching this? I forgot how hard they were railroaded in the case.

Once again, besides Live Games, 30 for 30 far surpasses anything else on ESPN.

Another great 30 for 30. The way that gal just randomly picked 2 of the players while the cops were showing her pictures of ONLY Duke LAX players made me want to puke. Those 2 guys just happened to be the unlucky ones that she picked....and it totally changed their lives forever. I was uncomfortable watching it.

Was really good stuff hearing about how the attorneys for the players had no idea that the DNA expert was going to be there on the day of the motion hearing. They didn't have time at all to prepare questions, but the youngest attorney of their group grilled the guy anyway.

And yes, apparently Crystal Mangum killed her boyfriend. She had agreed to be interviewed for this but prison officials said no. They really plastered her name all over this piece as well.

It was really good. I was in grad school at Duke at the time and had forgotten about a bunch of that stuff. Really sad story all around. Perhaps one of the most important points is that this type of thing happens all the time, just usually to people who don't have the resources to defend themselves. Nifong isn't the only bad egg out there, but even he probably put many innocent people away for a long time.

What's scary is it's probably not hard to hide evidence or hide incorrect procedures. Nifong could have easily made a new picture collage including random men and said that's the one she looked at

Very well done - I wish they would have talked to some of those people who lead the protests against the three and see what they have to say about their behaviors today. Very much guilty until proven innocent.

Thats' the world we live in with a 24/hr news cycle. You have to go to trial and prove your innocence after the media has convinced the entire world you are guilty ahead of time.

Nancy Grace has made a career out of this exact type of scenario.

Great 30 for 30.

I never realized this is how this story ended. I remember hearing about it when it first happened. I was in HS when this came out. Pretty crazy stuff

Not exactly sure.

The people who led the protests, don't care if they were right or wrong. In their mind, they were still right. They made their careers doing this, sad part is they have covered up some pretty bad things they have done and nobody protested them.

This is the part I find scary. I'm all for putting away guilty people, but let's make sure they are guilty first. Our society doesn't seem worried with this anymore.

For a very long time (and still to a certain extent today) rape was very difficult to prosecute. Advocates have reduced the amount of victim shaming, and more cases are being successfully prosecuted. That's a good thing.

The downside is that, like many hot topics in the modern era, extremists can make it an all or nothing proposition. This can lead to the impression that no woman ever lies about being raped, and men are always guilty if they've been accused.

Although we pay lip-service to "innocent until proven guilty", most of us fall into the trap of frequently assuming that if someone is arrested, they are obviously guilty.

The sad thing is that when women DO lie, they rarely face severe consequences...while the man's reputation is destroyed.

There needs to be less trial by public opinion...but that's probably not a realistic expectation. :(

Damn, forgot this was going to be on last night. I was reading about it last week when SI posted an article about ESPN running this episode, and then I read some articles that refreshed just how terribly those guys were treated afterward.

Is it online anywhere or do I have to wait for it to hit Netflix?

They were white, rich, and entitled and she was a poor black woman so it was case closed from the get go. Not hard to believe that things could quickly escalate and go terribly wrong with a house full of drunk college guys and a couple strippers. I'll be honest, I believed it all before watching this and I'm ashamed of myself for falling for it.

This is a prime example of why we can't automatically assume guilt when there's a rape accusation. Sometimes the victim or victims are actually the accused. I definitely won't jump to conclusions without all the facts and hope others change their way of thinking in cases like this as well. Unfortunately most won't admit they were wrong and will continue with the mob mentality every time something like this happens. Apparently that's the American way now.

Finally got a chance to watch this last night. How in the F did Nifong only get one day in jail? At least he was disbarred.

I found it interesting that his campaign manager thought something was fishy but she couldn't quite put her finger on it and then resigned as soon as he was re-elected.

It also blew my mind that the one Attorney stayed in the office for 4 days straight teaching himself about DNA and comparing what he was learning to a 2500 page document. Talk about a tedious task!!!
