Question - I've been wanting to get back into the show but the last thing I remember is Jack going underground and faking his own death to avoid the Chinese. I think that was a few seasons ago. Where are we at now? What has happened?

Did you not watch 24 - redemption on in november? That tells the story of where he has been at for the past few years.

I'm looking forward to it. The two-hour movie they did a few weeks ago was disappointing, but hopefully that was just because of the compressed format.

No, I guess I should just look up an synopsis of that.

Anybody else notice how resilient Jack Bauer is even for a TV character? I mean he is Chuck Norris resilient. Aside from the scars on his hands, I don't think there is any noticeable damage on the man's body. He has never even broken his nose. I would think that he would have some kind of nasty scar on his ear from being branded with that sword in Redemption but we shall see.

Mmm, actually it doesn't really. I don't remember any real discussion of what happened to Jack in the past. Only vague stuff like "I'm not going home." It just kind of sets up the next season.

BryceC, it sounds like you last watched at the end of Season 4. I'd recommend at least checking out Season 5 before moving on to the new one, which is #7. As far as I'm concerned, Season 6 never happened.

Jack Bauer is invincible. See the Bo Williams thread and replace all instances of "Bo Williams" with "Jack Bauer."

EDIT -- I mean the "BO WILLIAMS FACTS" thread, not the other one about him that's on the front page now.

Jack Bauer never eats, drinks, sleeps, or uses the bathroom. He tortures and has been tortured. He battles bad guys and bureaucrats. He's died at least twice. Almost everyone he's been close to has died a violent death, except for his daughter who he apparently has no contact with.

Nah, seems pretty typical to me.

The only thing that can stop Jack Bauer are the ratings and Cy the mascot, the most dominant mascot on earth two years ago when Jack went underground - so watch.

If you haven't seen the 2-hour movie '24 Redemption' I'd recommend going to the video store and renting it this afternoon, they have it on DVD. It doesn't really explain what happened since the last season, but I assume it set up a lot of what is going to happen this season. For example, "Hillary" is president instead of "Obama".

Re: 24

Just getting ready to start now. I like to build up a buffer in my DVR so I can fast forward through all the commercials.

Re: 24

I have always like Tony and I am pulling for him. Hopefully he can do something really bad so we can have a 006 vs 007 type thing.
