Good. Don't like the play, get better at it. It's not the eagles fault they've perfected it.
I mean… the eagles also push the limits of legality with how their OL operates on that play. The center moves the ball forward a bunch and the rest of the OL crowds in to move the LOS.

I agree and that needs to be policed more. Neutral zone infractions need to be enforced better. Everyone else in the NFL is still welcome to try and do what the Eagles are doing though. They can crowd the OL, have the center move the ball ahead and line the ball up under their chest essentially too until it's called by the refs

The Bills failures in the AFC championship game show that this is still a play that requires execution IMO.

It used to be illegal to assist a ball carrier forward. Not sure when or why that changed. Made sense to me the first time I saw it called .

Just the pushing part was removed. Pulling is still technically illegal. They even mentioned that fact heading into the playoffs, as I think Buffalo had a couple of high profile plays where the ball carrier was clearly being pulled forward by a teammate to gain more yardage. However, since they hadn't called it a penalty all year, they were not going to do so in the playoffs. There were going to potentially revisit it this offseason as a point of emphasis.
There was so much pulling forward of ball carriers this year, both in college and the NFL. It really needs to be a point of emphasis with the officials, because it was just so ridiculously blatant.

Personally I think pushing the ball carrier should have never been made legal, but they don’t let me make the rules.

Detroit may have had a clue that this was coming, but losing an all pro and pro bowl center is going to hurt, no matter what.

Plus, with them being so close to having a championship team, rough.

Banking on that to happen again isn't a terribly sound strategy, though.
The rumors that he has been thinking about retiring for a year or two means I hope they had a plan in place. The bigger problem is that they are replacing their entire interior Oline now.
