This bring up an early question - do players pass on playoff, like they did bowl games? Or, will we continue to see players treat bowl games only as a pass/play option.

I would assume playoff you would play since you are in national championship contention

I think this is fairly accurate other than Freyler. I get that he's not as fast as the NFL wants, but I can't think of a smarter player in the secondary than Freyler. My guess is a 5th or 6th round pick will be spent on him.

Big citrus should stay as he has a chance to be a day two player if he sticks around his senior year. He's an absolute tank.

Pretty similar to my expectations except I don't see any way Higgins falls to the 5th. Also, the way Onyedim has played this year... I can't see him more than an UDFA. He needs his last year to turn it around.

Higgins is an NFL level “hands” & size talent but his separation speed will be questionable. His times at the ISU pro day and combine, if he gets invited, will determine if he gets drafted.

Any thoughts on Hunter Dekkers? He has really good numbers at Iowa Western and NFL scouts attend his games. Level of competition weakens his resume but his physical tools and playing experience balances that out. I’d give Jalon Travis a higher grade & agree Darien Porter could be a surprise as a back up DB & special teams specialist.

I've long considered Freyler to sort of be the safety equivelant of Mike Rose.

Incredible players at ISU with off-the-charts football IQ, but probably playing near their maximum capabilities while in Ames. Without a ton of room to improve on technique or learn the game any better than they already know it, it'll be hard to sell teams on a tremendously valuable upside.

That said, if Freyler stays healthier than Rose did he could creep into the late rounds, but I'd be a little surprised by it.

100% agree on Dom.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dekkers gets picked up as an umdrafted free agent with the season he is having. I'm sure he will at least get a tryout somewhere. No way he gets drafted though. Does he have a year of eligibility left?

Jalen Travis missed some games early and there are a good amount of tackles that will be rated higher. Wouldn't be surprised if he got drafted late.

Freyler I don't think will get drafted because he's probably not a top 20 safety, but I think his instincts and physicality will give him a chance to stick on a roster. His cover skills may be a concern though.

Some mock drafts had Onyedim going late 1st round before the season started but his production has been very low this year. I think he returns and moves inside to replace Singleton.

Dekkers had one year of eligibility left and he couldn’t use it at an NCAA school. His only option was NAIA or JC. I personally thought all the athletes that had their lives impacted by an action by an agency of the State of Iowa that was ruled illegal should have their eligibility reinstated at the very least.

Gonna hint to you now.

You’re way too low on Porter.

1. I think you have Jeremiah Cooper too high. He's a smaller safety and has struggled this year
2. Jayden Higgins will go way higher than 5th round. He's the best receiver ISU has seen ever. Freakish talent. I think he goes rounds 3 on low end, 1st on high end.
3. If the defensive early departures are true, we need to get some hits in the portal on defense (I know there are good guys in the pipeline too)
