If you’re talking about Okie State, I’m certain the one I’m talking about was way before 2014 (although I can’t pin it down precisely). I remember being aghast at the replay call, because it was clearly obvious that it was wrong.

Oklahoma State 2014. Overturned to a touchdown as the first half ended, and it resulted in Pollard going off in the postgame.

I saw mostly what you saw, except there never was a view of the ball showing he clearly had it secured on the ground before it got knocked out.

But there also wasn’t a clear view showing he didn’t have it secured; and that’s what was required to overturn the call on the field.
And that’s exactly what I am talking about because to me there is the one shot (sorry I don’t have it) where they kept pausing it or slowing it down that to me clearly he had the ball secured as he hit the ground. All that says to your point is there is no way in hell you can reverse whatever call was made on the field.

This was one of the most obvious examples of not having irrefutable evidence.

I am imagining the uproar around here if that happened to Iowa State.

IMHO our worst replay result was when we clearly beat Texas and they fixed it on replay.

When the Texas player’s knee hit the ground our guy already had the ball a yard away and moving the other way. Scientifically impossible he could be down. This stupid ref either fixed the game or thought he needed to see the ball pop out.

I only remember Jeremiah George stripping the ball. I completely forgot Texas fumbled again the next play.

What I posted was edited. They showed a replay in broadcast where George is already running away when the Texas player knee is still a foot off the ground.

Really if was a 14 point swing by the Texas refs for blowing call dead because that’s an ISU TD on the play.

That was a real shame for VT. It looked to me the VT receiver clearly high-pointed the catch and came down in bounds.

Now, did he lose control on the way down? Who tf knows. But there was no camera angle that showed it. BS to overturn the call on the field.

Wasn’t that the play where the issue was that the officials blew the play dead before the fumble? The ball was clearly out before his knee hit the ground but the ruling was that the whistles blew the play dead early and before the fumble? It was frustrating but made more sense than the knee was down before the fumble. The refs didn’t need to blow the play dead as quickly as they did either.

Yes, whistle was blown, so play was dead, and not reviewable.

Clearly watching replay, whistle isn't audible until he's at least five yards downfield after fumble recovery, but "by rule" you can't review based on audio (or at least couldn't at the time).

That’s right. I think I blocked some of the details from memory. Thank you for the reminder. Jerk.

2005 Missouri - One, potentially two MU fumbles wiped out as either "down" or "forward progress." One was blatantly bad, as the ball was ripped out while the receiver was still going downfield. MU ended up with a FG on that drive, as part of the comeback.

2005 Colorado (tornado game) - Walter Nickel catches a ball in the end zone. Ruled incomplete, play not stopped for review. Ball never touched the ground. TV crew aghast. Drive ended with 3 points.

2005 Kansas - KU QB given a TD on a 4th-down sneak. No angle showed the ball crossing the goal line. (They also missed a false start.)

2006 Nebraska - Austin Flynn catches a ball in the end zone with one foot clearly down. Ruled incomplete, play not stopped for review. TV crew aghast. Drive ended with 0 points.

Looks like VT better install their very own apology wall, because they have a letter incoming from the ACC office worthy of framing.

Washington out-gained Rutgers by 222 yards but missed FG's and had stupid penalties that cost them the game.
Reminded me of recent losses to Iowa under CMC. Win the stat line but step on their own d!cks enough to lose on the scoreboard.

I think the ref (or some Big 12 person?) later said that the Texas player was down before the whistle, but the whistle wasn't blown until George already has the ball. That was 100% a screw job by the officials.

The officials said “forward progress” had been stopped, so the play was dead before the ball came out … they just neglected to actually, you know, call the play dead until George was heading the other way with the ball.
