A recent ranking of FCS schools had this to say about North Dakota.

22. North Dakota

There will be a new offensive coordinator and a new quarterback for North Dakota this fall, but the Fighting Hawks can compete with offensive weapons like running back Gaven Ziebarth and wide receiver Bo Belquist. The quarterback competition is the biggest concern in Grand Forks, however, I think a UND team that made the playoffs the last two seasons can be in a similar position this fall.

That is crazy, Matt Rule said the B1G should get 4 automatic bids because they are the best conference. Not even close!!! HALF (9) of their conference faces two, one or no ranked teams. Mystery solved as to how so many of them can have winning records!
You put that much stock in ESPN's preseason ratings? Preseason ratings are garbage and as always they always like bluebloods, SEC, and Big 10 teams.

I stopped listening when the one guy criticized Campbell for how he wears his hat. I posted it here thinking it would fire some people up with their awful takes.
My thanks was sincere. I wouldn't want to stumble across that and click on it only to find out it was a couple of bozos with nothing of value to say.

Outside of our miserable offensive line improving. I'm really interested to see how the following plays out..

Defensive line - How do we get more disruptive? I like our two deep but am looking for a real disruptor.
Corner - Losing Tampa is REALLY going to hurt, does someone step up, or do we change the scheme to even more zone?
WR - Would like to see a 3rd option develop after Higgins and Noel.
Offensive scheme - How do we get more explosive? Can we finally get rid of the 2-3 TE sets as a primary offense?
Talent Question - We are overall a decently deep team, but we currently have no one close to a day 1 or early day 2 pick in the draft. If we can get a couple guys to flash, that is where a conference title could become relevant conversation.

Hopefully running more 4-2-5 will help this tremendously. Its obvious we don't have a Will McDonald but we have some dudes

People are hyping up Jackson, even Noel was.

I like your list. I would add can we minimize the dumb plays. No special teams blunders and no running it from shut gun on 4th and 1 for the love of god (please just butt push it). ISU does not have the talent to make up for lack of execution.

So our offensive line is miserable, our defensive line needs to be more disruptive, our corners are in big trouble without Tampa, our receiving corps needs a 3rd option, our offensive scheme needs to be more explosive, we need to dump the emphasis on tight ends, and we have no high draft picks in the roster.

Sounds like we should just cancel the season.

Please tell me your the dong that sits in section 2 about row 21, because it would explain a lot

Now, now, let's wait until the 1st quarter is over on 8/31.

And if it's not 21-0 ISU with everything clicking along because football's easy, then yes, it's time to cancel.

Iowa State had 13 plays of 50+ yards the most in school history. They also had eight touchdown drives of less than one minute, third most in the power 5 last year.

We were 4-2 in road games last year. I think this team travels well and plays well on the road again this year. With that said, I think we have far fewer questions than Iowa, with a new OC and such. I think we win at Iowa and I believe we start the season at 5-0.

Game 6 is at West Virginia. I really have this as a toss-up because we may travel well, but they are getting some good press and it seems hard for us when we go to Morgantown. 50/50
Game 7 UCF at home. Win.
Game 8 is Texas Tech at home. I want to say win but this is supposed to be a better Tech team. I give us 60/40 toss-up.
Game 9 is a road game at Arrowhead. If we travel well and have a 1 loss record or better (split the two toss-ups) I give us a 50/50 chance.
Game 10 home vs Cincy. Win.
Game 11 is a road game at Utah. Not expecting a win. I'd say 30/70. I really want Utah to be like Phog Allen, in that ISU has more success there than anyone else in the league.
Game 12 is a home game against KSU. If either team is playing to go to Dallas, I favor them. If neither (or both) I favor ISU. I would say in the latter case 60/40 for the win.

I think the worst is 7-5 and best is 12-0 with it likely to be around 9-3. I know I am optimistic, but this is the best time of the year to be optimistic. Go Cyclones.

i'm not sure if people are "hyping" Jackson as much as they're saying how solid he is. He knows the offense, blocks well, and does the little things. Rocco missed him a few times last year for what could've been big gains. It's clear Rocco looks to Higgins/Noel/Brahmer. Hopefully we can add Jackson and Green to the mix.

Even though the team was young last year, they seemed to be much better in these areas than previous teams.
