Great question and now that I think about it, I think we were NET darlings because of our really poor SOS to start last year. Less of an SOS hole to dig out of I guess I’ll say.

Houston and Arizona really hurting the Big 12 perception early.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Big XII is going to get the crazy good quad numbers of the past few years. Iowa state will be fine and the big XII will still be sicko tough, but the BoneG and the $ec have made up ground as conferences. The strongest conference race is going to be close this year amongst the top 3.

Tough for Houston. Run the gamble and schedule the top 2 teams in the SEC early - they and the BXII look amazing if they win, but instantly in the hole if they lose. Arizona on the other hand just looks like a mediocre basketball team this year.

Houston will be rewarded for it come March. The committee has shown time and time again they don't really care who wins those big early season matchups. As long as you avoid a "bad loss" in the non con it won't matter. IMO NET comes into play more for teams that are on the bubble.

To much bias this early in the season. A lot of teams are still working things out on the court. Some “Quad 1” wins now, may not look the same later in the season.

Honestly, we did a bit better at the invite then I had feared (thought we would go 1-2). The Marquette game upcoming will be the first telling note and the first 3 games of the Big 12 season. After that, then I will pay attention to rankings and metrics.
