I dont get why people think it's so bad. It's really no different and probably even better than last years.

The ESPN tournament will give us 2 or 3 Ncaa tourney teams. It's probably even better than last year's because North Carolina and Nova ended up being duds.

It would be nice to see 1 more high profile P5 school on the non-con schedule. But I think that will happen with 2024/25 season if we are top 4-5 team in Big12 standings.

There will likely be a neutral non-conference game against a Big 12 team.

Star power from the PKI was 100x better than this years tournament.

Also traded St John's for DePaul, which is A LOT smaller of a name. In reality, if the schedule had A&M, VCU, and Boise St on it instead of just tournament placeholder, it looks a lot better

Sure, but there's no way little ol' ISU would walk out of that tournament with a couple wins. I mean, one of them was ranked #1, for goodness sake.

Flipping the SEC game to a cupcake hasn't helped.

I hope the rumored Big 12-Big Ten challenge comes to fruition.

Star power doesn't matter on a resume, North Carolina and Nova weren't even tournament teams last year.

DePaul and St. John's are perennial Big East bottom feeders and last years game was at home so its probably a wash between those 2.

It does to off-season radio hosts.

To the selection committee, you are correct
Yeah, there's no doubt that tourney last year had much more appeal on paper. The ESPN event, while not as star studded, will give us a chance to play at least 2 Ncaa tourney level teams imo.

It’s the same schedule except we replaced the sec opponent with grambling state.

As far as NCAA Tournament goes, our non-con SOS maybe counts about 10%.

The most important thing is finishing in top 6/7 of Big12 regular season. The next filter is our non-con record. Even if we have a bad non-con, I expect our floor to be 9-4. Enough to get the Clones in.

Our non-con SOS only matters if we finish 8th or lower and maybe have 7 or 8 non-con wins.

If TJ can continue the team culture of the last 2 years, I like this team a lot.

True. Well, one of each.

Minnesota
South Carolina

Also higher than:
2 Pac: Oregon State, Cal
2 from ACC: Florida State & Louisville (and roughly equal to Notre Dame)
So, not even last place in any P5 conference EXCEPT the Big 12.

Brand, sure, but ISU's two wins, while great at the time, didn't amount to much on the real-time resume for the season.

Better the 2 wins then 2 losses. Always fun to beat a name brand school even if they aren't as good as usual. Just my opinion.
