I think it was mtown that used to post this thread. I haven't seen it for a couple of years, so I thought I'd try my hand, and after about 10 days of games the field has narrowed enough to make it less unwieldy.
I will try to update daily, but there may be a few times where I miss a day (like Thanksgiving weekend). I freely admit that I make mistakes, so if you see errors, please point them out. This first post covers the games completed last night (Tuesday, 16 Nov 2022).

Feel free to add your thoughts!

Does anyone recall how many teams remained last season when Iowa State's first loss came? Seems like it was in 6 to 8 range, but that's only a semi-educated guess.

I'm sure I could search, but no time right now.

Schools that were still undefeated at the end of 2021, and the 2022 dates they were eliminated:

Baylor
1.11
Iowa State
1.01
Colorado St
1.08
USC
1.11

If I remember correctly, Baylor was the one that knocked us off on Jan 1.

What is our current streak of non-conference wins dating back to 2020-2021, not counting the tourney games?

** Edit: I guess I came up with 15. 2 this year, 12-0 last year (not tourney), and Jackson State in 2020 (take that Deion!).

If my math is correct, it'll be minimum 708-day streak between regular-season non-conference losses ...
Dec. 11, 2020 (lost to Iowa)
At least Nov. 20, 2022 (vs Milwaukee)

(dates calculated non-inclusive)

Why are we Minnesota? When did we cede Iowa to....Iowa?
This is just a graphic representation of every undefeated team. Every county on the map belongs to the nearest undefeated team. Since Minnesota lost Wisconsin and Iowa State essentially divvy up their territory. Iowa State doesn't go very far east, south or west since Iowa, Drake and Creighton are still undefeated. It would be better if Iowa and Iowa State were represented by different shades of gold. That will resolve itself within the next month...

This one looks like it assigns the counties to the closest unbeaten D1 hoops team. Iowa and Iowa State both being yellow is also deceiving.

I really like the ones where everyone starts out with a territory and if you beat said team, you acquire their territory. Towards the end of the year, the empires are really big as they continue to consolidate with the better teams. Sometimes a team with a ton of territory (OSU circa 2005) would lose to an ISU team and then we'd have a ton of territory.

Joey also does his imperialism map where when you beat a team you get whatever territory they currently possess. For example, Nebraska handed Maine their first loss so that is why the N for kNowledge covers most of the state of Maine. When someone inevitable beats the fighting Hoibergs, they will get the Big Red's territory in both Nebraska and Maine as well as any other territory they hold at that time.

Last year when ISU started the season on a long win streak ISU held territory all over the country.

Looks like @VeloClone posted said map at same time as your post. :)

Independents like Notre Dame and BYU included?
Notre Dame is part of the ACC for basketball. BYU is part of the WCC for basketball. At least that's how ESPN ranks them in their conference rankings. BYU lost a game on 11.11. ND is on my list above.

The only D1 independents are Chicago State and Hartford. I do have the independents on my tracking list but both have already lost a game.

Lemme tell ya, conference realignments in the mid majors were a complete PAIN to run down.
