Oh, my poor Cardinal Comets. Finally beat Pekin, have a great year after many seasons of futility, then promptly get smoked by West Branch in the first round.

Some intriguing matchups in the bigger classes:

• Independence at Benton is really interesting in 3A
• The prospect of West Delaware-Solon in the second round is also quite the 3A matchup
• Burlington’s run-all-the-time attack gets to face the Xavier defense in 4A
• The top 4 seeds in 4A should make the Dome (North Scott looks like the best team, then Xavier, Waverly-Shell Rock & Indianola), although Indianola may have their hands full with Lewis Central in the 2nd round (Indianola won by 5 in September). I’d also be intrigued by a Bondurant-Farrar/Waverly-Shell Rock Battle of the Hyphens in round 2
• In 5A, a potential CR Kennedy-Iowa City High 2nd round game could be fun. I think the other 3 top seeds (Southeast Polk, Valley, Prairie) have a pretty smooth path to the Dome

Bondurant is very good, wouldn't at all be surprised to see them make it to Cedar Falls. In 5A it'll be interesting, it's been a long time since the highly-ranked eastern Iowa schools could hang with central Iowa.

The other advancement that's great is all the streaming on YouTube. Tonight I searched Indianola football and bam! Getting old, love not having to deal with the late season weather. I watched Baxter's playoff opening round game.. That game was every bit of a 3 hour road trip.
