They also said they could see Brian Kelly to USC and then Fickle to ND - I could see this

Why would Kelly go to USC? He's winning at Notre Dame. USC is a cluster. Don't see it.

I think Notre Dame is comfortable with him and vice versa. With Saban and Dabo, Kelly is probably doing as well as be can given NDs academic standards.

Franklin was never in danger of leaving and USC is a worse job with the state of the PAC and the kind of recruiting class franklin is brining in. Fickell to USC has always been the first choice and most obvious move. Not sure if cinci moving to the Big12 changes the math on that or not but I would be shocked if he stayed.

The blue blood schools might as well take a chance on some “big” name assistant. Coaches don’t wanna go and get fired in 4 years because they have one down season. This year and last year multiple coaches have signed extensions to stay. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
