I don't have an argument with that number at all. Personally, as a biased fan, I think it should probably be 7.5, but one year does not make a trend so I can see why Vegas would be on the low side for a program like ISU.

I just don't see how we aren't better this year. Sure, we lost some good players, two of the greatest Cyclones ever, but I just feel like we have plenty of talent to fill in for them, and then our OL, DL, etc, etc, are all another year older and more experienced.

I can't think of a position group that isn't going to be as good or better this year than it was last year....

QB- better. Another year of Kempt, and Noland got some valuable experience last year too.
RB- better. Everyone is back. Probably best position group on the team IMO.
WR- slightly better. Lose Lazard, Ryen, and Murdock, but return Butler, Eaton, Jones, Martin, Josh Johnson, Milton, Epps, and add Scates, Sean Shaw, Schleker, etc so I think we'll be deeper.
TE- better. CMC has said this is the most improved group, and I trust CMC.
OL- better. More experienced and deeper.

DL- better. Most are back, Leo back too. Some young guys look promising too.
LB- even, maybe slightly better. Losing Lanning hurts, but 2 studs returning, and Vance is the real deal.
CB- better. 2 studs back, plus deep young talent too.
S- even hopefully. I think we'll be ok with the combo of Eisworth, Lewis, White, and Jones.

Not so sure on the Safety or the WR. It sounds like there is some talent at Safety, so that might be okay. WR, Lazard is a huge loss, guy came down with several near impossible catches for TDs last year. Not sure there is anyone on the team that can do that. Also need someone to take the speed WR role that Ryen played.

I think Butler will do a pretty decent job of being the guy you can lob it to in the endzone once you get in the redzone. He hasn't quite shown the hands of Lazard yet, but he is better than Lazard in some areas too, like speed and quickness.

As for the Ryen position, DeShaunte Jones is more than good enough, but not quite the speed of Ryen, but do not sleep on Akers either this year. Kid is fast. I think we'll be fine.

I think 6.5 is right on the money. I don't see Iowa State falling below .500 with Campbell.

Clonedude I think you're being a little overly optimistic. WR will will be solid but I have a tough time believing they'll be better without lazard. Same with safety, losing all 3 starters.

If those position groups are in fact better, bank on 10-11 wins this season because our Coaching staff is unreal

I think Butler will do just fine in that role. He made some nice contested catches himself, but that wasn't his deal last year.
As for replacing Ryen, Jones is solid, but maybe guys like Kene or Lang could slide over there for a bit more speed.
Safety is the only position group I have any concerns about at all, and those are minimal. Having 2 all-conference caliber Corners will help the safeties settle in much faster.

Oh, and as for the OP.....I'm betting the house on the over. ;)
