My boss at the time was a Michigan alum. I loved it when we reviewed out brackets after that weekend.

I was there....on spring break from my Minnesota JUCO with a group of friends. Spent the weekend at the Embassy Suites and became a Cyclone Fan after both wins that weekend! Iowa losing to NC State was an added bonus.

Literally rubbed shoulders with Jimmy V after one of the games!

Dad and I were there. We had friends with tickets who couldn't go to the second game of the weekend. We only got to go if they won in the previous round, which happened courtesy of a Jeff Hornacek last second shot.

The game itself is still one of my most vivid early teen memories. Skinny Ron Virgil guarding Roy Tarpley. Gary Thompkins actually dunking. And of course Elmer's game-sealing slam.

WHAT A DAY!

A good reminder these "close connection" games tend to happen for some mysterious reason in the NCAA tournament (e.g., about to play Henderson and maybe Drake the Saturday after that).

And don't forget that game was not possible without Jeff Hornacek's buzzer beater in Round 1 vs Miami (OH). Two thrilling games!

I was 6. My parents had tickets and went to the first game. My brother got sick and my mom had to stay home. I went with my dad and aunt. I remember vividly the Happy Meal I got before the game. I also remember vividly spitting on the picture of the Michigan roster in the program (also those programs haven’t changed in 40 years) and my aunt telling me to stop. I don’t remember **** about the actual game and it took years before I realized I was there. But I was!

It was probably 2 years later when I have actual memories of going to games and I was hardcore by the time I was 9 or so.

Seems like Michigan got screwed with that 2 seed and then having to play a road game vs. a lower seed.
