Timing?
Of course it's going to snow. We are going to our only basketball game tomorrow:/ How does the drive from/to CR look?
Not supposed to start until evening last I heard. Depending on which channel you are watching, we are going to get 0-8" sometime before the end of the weekend.![]()
Winter storm watch just came out and talking 5-9" for central Iowa.
The Boxstercy Iowa Road Trip Model [SUP]TM [/SUP](aka BIRTM) predicts a high probably of ****** weather and ****** roads. The BIRTM is a probabilistic model based on decades of Boxstercy trips to and from Iowa that inevitably produce ****** weather and ****** driving conditions. It is a time proven predictive model and very simple. The only input needed is "yes" or "no" to "Will Boxster be driving in Iowa?".
BIRTM is fully applicable to both winter and summer. Boxster on the road in the summer = hail, high winds and maybe tornadoes (did u-turn in 2008 and retreated 20 miles north to avoid the cell that had gone through Parkersburg). Boxster on the road in Iowa in winter = high winds, freezing rain, terrible road, deep snow and high probability of I-35 closure.
Expect the worse, I am coming to Iowa!
Well, you're just a little party in a car, aren't you?

Right now, 4-6 inches, or slightly higher into the 5-9 inch range, of snow is forecast for the southeastern counties from I-80 south and east of I-35.
Expect 2-4 inches for the central and southwestern counties, including the Des Moines metro and Ames. Expect 1-2 inches in the counties north of Highway 20.
