Weekly Intermat Rankings are out. Some changes for ISU. Hall moves back into the top 10, checking in at #9 at 133 after his win over McGuire on Saturday. Moreno drops from #16 to #18, Weatherman stays steady at #11. However, as far as I'm concerned they are really ranking him #10 because Intermat continues to rank Cooper Moore at #8 even though Moore has barely wrestled this year due to injury and Tanner pinned him in Vegas. This late in the season guys should be ranked on what they've done, not pre-season expectations. And Weatherspoon falls out of the rankings.

The Central Michigan dual is gonna be super important. They've got guys ranked just a little bit higher than us at multiple weights.

We have guys very capable of being ranked a lot higher, but need to get more consistent. Gabe and Lelund are top 20 guys, no doubt in my mind

I want to agree with you, but at a certain point they are what they're records say they are. Concentration and consistency are part of the equation in athletics excellence. The program is not delivering on that front, imo.

Consistency is definitely something that's been lacking this year. I think it's fair to say that Moreno and Weatherspoon are both guys that are capable of beating anybody outside the very top tier, but also capable of losing to barely ranked or unranked wrestlers. It is going to be super important for them to peak at NCAAs. If they do they can score us some points. If they don't it'll be a short trip to New York.

Still time for some of those guys to prove themselves, but they're running out of time. I'm also hopeful that with the new big12 tournament we will be able to sneak a couple of guys in.

Agree seem like a very bipolar group. Starting to wonder if it is a requirement for every single athletic program at our university to be this way. Football has shown it over and over, Basketball well it is starting to appear them wheels are coming off and showing, wrestling we have kids that can do such amazing things but just whiff the next time out.

In regards to consistency, I took a quick look at our good wins and bad losses.

Larson: No real good wins, but 5 of his 8 losses are to guys ranked in the top 14 and a 6th is to a returning NCAA qualifier. The other two are to an unranked guy from Boise State.

Hall: Best win in over #10 Mack McGuire last weekend. Also has multiple wins over #17 Alber from UNI. All five of his losses are to ranked opponents. #3 Clark, #4 Brewer, #6 DiCamollo, #12 Montoya, and #18 Giraldo

Meeks/Rodriguez: Both Dante and John have their share of bad losses and both have a decision win over #19 Koethe from UNI. Meeks has wrestled Koethe twice and split with him, Dante has only wrestled him once and has the win.

Moreno: Best win is over now unranked Depalma of Kent State. His six losses are to #2 Sorenson, #4Tsirtsis, #9 Short, UR Kemerer (who is only unranked because he's a redshirt, that loss is only bad because of the score), UR Mastriani (who should be ranked soon, only unranked because he's been out with injury for a while), and UR Theobald (who is a 2x NCAA qualifier). None of his losses are really bad, but he isn't back to the level he was before his injury. He'll get a couple shots the rest of the season against guys ranked 10-20 that'll allow expectations to be set.

Breitenbach/Rodriguez-Spencer: Lots of unranked losses, no currently ranked wins.

Weatherman: Best win is a pin over #8 Moore, only other ranked wins is twice over #19 McFadden (who he's also lost to once). He has two unranked losses. 3-7 to Gobbo of Harvard and by fall to White of Columbia.

Weatherspoon: Has a decision win over #16 Mahomes but has three unranked losses in addition to losses to #8 Hammond, #9 Walters, and #12 Meyer.

Pestano: No ranked wins but his only unranked loss to a D-1 non-redshirt is getting pinned by Gabel of Northern Colorado in Vegas.

Harrington: No ranked wins, 2 of his three losses are to top 10 guys. The Conel loss isn't terrible and the Gabel win was good, but both those guys are outside the rankings. Regretabbly there aren't any teens ranked guys on the schedule, just two more top 10 guys.

Smith: All of his losses are to ranked wrestlers but he doesn't have any ranked wins.

I feel we have a lot of guys in the 20 - 35 ranked area. Really curious to see a coaches poll. They rank top 33, correct?

Yep, 33. Hall, Moreno, Weatherman, Spoon, and Pestano will for sure be in it the top 33. Dante and Smith probably would be. Larson and Breitenbach/Nardo would be less likely but could slip in to the last few spots. Harrington I think totally depends on how the coaches feel about the Kent State guy who beat him.

Looks like Penn St is going to run away with the title this year.

Kind of looking that way. I think the drama is going to end up being who among Ohio State/Iowa/Oklahoma State will get left out of the top three.

Ohio State- curious to see how Snyder does at Hwt against Gwiz, Coon, etc

Iowa - needs to keep Clark healthy.
