    NBA: *** 2024 NBA thread ***

I agree with the sentiment. If Hali were on a bad offensive team, he absolutely would need to take over and average 25ppg. But Indy is literally the best offense in the league. Clearly what they're doing, and what he's doing, is exactly how they should be doing.

Who will be the leading scorer for the 25-26 season?

Burn me once.. Last year I thought it could be Milan. This year, I hope it is too, because him becoming a more assertive and consistent scorer is what we need from him. But I'm not falling for it this time, I voted Jefferson.

    NBA: *** 2024 NBA thread ***

The Thunder are built to be a great regular season team. They blitz teams with their 'physicality',intensity, and speed. Having a one-off game in January is a lot different than seeing the same team for 2 weeks straight. I think we're seeing the Pacers get comfortable and settled in. The Thunder...

Why do our highest profile pros have so many doubters?

I think the reason Haliburton isn't considered a 'superstar' by many is pretty similar to why Purdy is considered a 'game manager'. For both of them, their best skill is decision making, which is not as easy to see and measure. I'm not sure there are any better at their positions at processing...

10 Shows to Get to Know Me

Hey, I maybe kinda sort of identify with the dad. Honestly though, it's sort of the least objectionable compromise between my younger and older kids. And it's a whole lot better than any of the other kid's dreck that's out there.

10 Shows to Get to Know Me

Not all of these are necessarily my top 10 favorites, most are, but more an attempt to cover a variety of genres, subjects, or styles that I enjoy. In no particular order. Psych Ted Lasso Modern Family Last Man Standing NCIS Only Murders in the Building Mrs Maisel The Chosen Bluey My Name is Earl

Cyclones in the NFL and rooting interest

9ers, as mentioned Purdy (and Kittle) are so likeable, and QB is by far the most valuable position. And I grew up hating the 49ers. After that, I like underdogs. The Jets were fun for a few weeks before Breece got hurt 2 years ago. They're harmless enough that I can pull for them without hurting...

    2025 NFL Draft

I really like Gabriel. He seems a little like Purdy. A bit undersized, not a huge arm, accurate, lots of experience, and a winner everywhere he's been. Sanders seems to be the opposite, getting by strictly on athletic ability. All 5 of their QBs offer something a little different, if they could...

    2025 NFL Draft

I think Porter has a chance to sneak into the 1st round, 2nd at worst. If he had all the same measurables and career stats but played at a blue blood somewhere no one would bat an eye at him going mid to late 1st. There's been 3 DBs in the last 30 years with better athletic profiles and it's...

Jon Gruden’s QB Spotlight for NFL draft: Hunter Deckers inside the FFCA

I hope he gets a shot somewhere. I'm not sure I would have said that before watching that interview. He made a mistake and paid an awful steep price. I think a lot of players would have walked away and avoided their past, he's willing to face the questions and scrutiny for an outside shot at a...

    Annoying TV/Movie Tropes

The cliffhanger type scenes. Where the hero, or their partner/friend/love interest, are hanging by their fingertips from a ledge for a couple minutes until being saved at the last possible moment. Also, any labor/newborn baby scene.

What is your MOST REWATCHABLE movie or show?

I agree with the earlier comment that streaming has really changed how I watch TV. I always assume that I'm not going to have time to pick out and finish a movie, so I usually end up rewatching favorite TV series. Usually that means Psych, but any of the old USA shows are good. Monk, White...

    Dishwasher Buying Advice/Question

A stainless steel tub is an absolute must. Dishwashers can be fairly simple machines, and generally the more bells and whistles the more potential problems. If your only concern is functionality most any DW will clean and dry the dishes if it's maintained well (clean the filters regularly). All...

The Memorial Union Zodiac - To Walk Around or Step It Through

When I was a student I adapted my own superstition. I walked across, being very careful to only step on my own sign, never any other sign. Maybe it was arrogance, trying to prove I could succeed even while inviting bad luck, maybe it was me trying to literally make my own mark or be unique. I...

No. 3 ISU's Nate Heise vows to banish shooting struggles Tuesday against UCF

Heise needs to be a reliable threat to hit the 1 or 2 wide-ass open 3s he gets every game. He doesn’t have to create his own or force anything, just let it come to him. Otherwise he's not giving us anything that Watson doesn't also provide. Not to turn it into a Watson derail, it just strikes...

    *** Official #9 Kansas vs #2 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I respect Harris more than most Jayhawks. He's one of their few players that seem to be more about substance than style. It is striking to me that he and Lipsey have the same role for their teams, but Tamin has made himself an opportunistic shooter. The lack of development from Harris is in...

Postgame video: Bill Self on Iowa State's win over KU

We have beaten Kansas as much as anyone in the Self era, and he's always complementary, but this felt different. He doesn't sound like he has a whole lot of answers or confidence. He didn’t give the impression that he was itching for a rematch, more like he was resigned to a second tier finish...

    *** Official #5 Marquette vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I wasn't able to watch the Maui games, just the radio, so this is my first time watching against a real opponent this year. Keshon was good last year, real good, but he's a whole different animal right now. He's always been physical, but now people are bouncing off him instead of him getting...

2024 Big 12 Championship Game Projections

Are we at the point of the season yet where we can start discussing who we'd prefer to play in the championship? Are there teams we should be pulling for or against to give us even better odds? To this point I have generally been pulling against teams we don't get a chance to beat ourselves and...

Fan anxiety "Fanxiety" watching the Cyclones

I have mellowed some, but still spend an unhealthy amount of time preoccupied thinking about the next big upcoming game, in fb and mbb, and for wbb tourney games. It's so much a part of my identity, and about the only time I don't keep my emotions locked up. But I have mellowed. I was a rabid...
