What does the Executive Membership do?

I have the Citi/Costco card that has a decent cash back that really does pay for my current membership. I try to fill up at the Costco station because they recently went up to 5%.

I get Kirkland chicken tenderloins, frozen veggies and their coffee as regular stuff and some other things. Occasional clothes but I try to avoid clutter.

Their deli ready-made stuff is generally very good and their breakfast stuff from the bakery is the bomb diggity.
It's a 2% reward - basically you get 2% back on all you've spent during the year. As of right now, mine is sitting at $170. Membership is $120/year.

I should really look into the card.

I typically don't mind crowds, but Costco is another level sometimes, so I don't go often. When I do, I'm usually getting paper products, cleaning supplies and OTC allergy meds for my kid.

Card is 5% Costco gas, 4% regular gas, then trickles down to 3% and 2% for travel, dining, etc.

I opened a Citi savings account with it too because the APY is decent...it's nice to get a little dividend/kickback monthly and then the annual cash back.

I'm confused. Why not just get a 2% cash back card that is not Costco and can be used anywhere for 2% back?

Really I do both - since they only take Visa, I use one of my cards that gives cash back, and then we get the cash back from Costco.

We got back almost $700 last year between the membership level, credit card, and buying a closet renovation through Costco.

My only gripe is the gas line. Sometimes it can take way too long. I've seen a person talking to the pumps thinking it was voice activated

What are your go-to's at Costco? What are the random odd things you've bought there but swear by?

For us - it's produce. Our 4.5 year old alone can eat through more produce than any human being I've ever seen. Strawberries, Grapes, Carrots, Pears, Green Beans, you name it.

They also have individual packs of cut, grilled chicken that are awesome in salads.
Food- Pantry stuff, frozen foods stuff, produce

Household - toilet paper, paper towels

Random - TVs, computer monitors, lawn and garden

Yes, I have seen some very weird stuff at the gas pumps. And nearly every time something strange happens when you look around at the other people.

My gripe is not being ready when there is a line at the gas pumps. I always get my costco card and bank card out while waiting in the line. But so many others don't. I usually will have 6-8 gallons pumped before the car in front of me starts their pump. The line would move a lot faster if people were prepared while waiting

i switched from costco to sams club because it was closer to my work and the sams I goto is the one on 73rd street and i can't stand it.

BUT sams lets you scan/pay on your phone so I don't have to talk to anyone and I can be in/out as quick as possible.

i miss costco, I think

We use it for basically all our house products (TP, Paper Towels, Detergent, Dish Soap) etc; and regularly use it for Yogurt, rotisserie chicken, ground beef, chicken breast, big bags of chips, the breaded frozen chicken nuggets (very similar to chick-fil-a), breakfast sandwiches, green beans, cereal, cashews (the Costco brand is awesome), Kirkland microwave popcorn, and protein/breakfast bars for our son for snacks at school. We also get our allergy meds there (the Kirkland bottle is 1 year and still cheaper than the name brand) and I get vitamins there.
We love Costco. It's busy, but you can get the stuff we use regularly in bulk, at a cheaper price.

Also, always use it for gas. It's always 10-20 cents per gallon cheaper than all the gas stations near us.

I treat it like a NASCAR pit stop.

I expect others to do the same.
Be alert.
Be prepared.
Pump.
Get out.

In California it once took me an entire lunch break to get topped off. That's an outlier, but it happened. I mostly go at off times.

This is like a few years ago when people still wrote checks. They would stand there doing nothing while their $300 worth of groceries were being scanned and then decide to pull out their checkbook at the end so the entire process takes even longer.

We had Sams when they first rolled out that scan/pay app and it was awesome, but I can't say I miss Sams.

Costco gas is always cheaper than the surrounding stations, most electronics they double the warranty free of charge. They have a 100% on questions ask on returns, we purchase a wind chime for my mom a few years ago, damn thing fell apart in a matter of month. Took it back, without the receipt and they could look it up and refunded my money.
Best thing about Costco is the not only the prices, but the help there is always asking if you need anything, very helpful with any questions and actually seem to like working there and helping people. Avoid it like the plague on Saturday mornings, outside of that, well worth the drive down from Ames to pick up things we need around the house.
