Oli Marmol is not a good at managing the game of baseball. That is all.

I was yelling for him to take Gray out in 7th once first two runners got on, because Maton has looked so good. He proceeds to let Gray plunk a batter to load bases and then also stay in for 4th hitter to give up a grand slam. 3-1 lead to down 5-3 in no time.

Contreras & Winn look AWFUL at the plate. I believe they both are still 0-fer (we're on game 6?) At least Walker, Arenado, Nootbaar all look great. But man, the manager is just clueless at managing his bullpen.
Oli is just a horrible manager, and nothing but a "yes" man to the front office. Not sure why he was pushing Gray there, after he had pitched 6 solid innings, get him out with a lead and let the bull pen finish off the game. Hell, why not give Wynn a day off yesterday, when he was 0-14 up until that point. What I find interesting is looking at the crowds, lot of people not bothering to go to the games. It's the only way this ownership group understands, hit them in the pocket book.

Go ahead run on 3rd, no outs. Can't get him in. Can almost guarantee this one ends in a loss again. Feel good overall on where we've been just absolutely cannot finish any rally off.

EDIT: glad to see my pessimism was wrong. Really felt like we should have come out with a series win still. But playing pretty solid so far. Some better teams upcoming, though.

Yeah...feels the same way as the last two nights. Just one big (clutch) hit away in both Mon & Tue games.

** welp, thats a fun inning** Glad to see a team that knows how to bunt and take pitches/work counts. Great 8th inning. & Herrera with his 3rd homer of the day.

This is not hyperbole: I’m boycotting this season. Didn’t buy MLB for the first time in 10 years. Deleted the MLB app and am not keeping up with the Cards progress at all.

My lifelong fandom is on the brink. MLB and this ownership has pushed me to the point of apathy. I’m pretty much not even a fan anymore.

The game Monday was everything wrong with Cardinals, one out bases loaded in the 10th, slow roller hit to Donovan, and he throws home and we get no one. Trout comes up next and hit a fly ball to center, and they score another run. You have to get the 2nd out at first in extra innings, and just figure we are going to get that one run back, which they did in the bottom of the 10th. Lose the game 5-4, instead of going to the 11th tied now at 4-4. Nice to see we came back today, and are starting 4-2, but we gave away one if not both those other two games.

I broke down and got the $99 season pass on fan duel/ amazon prime. so i hope to see at least a decent playoff run. I;ll take a 4-2 start any day.

I get the frustration on ownership but can ask what your gripe is on MLB? I'm an old school guy (didn't like the DH, as an example) but I at least feel like MLB is trying to improve their product by speeding up the game and I feel there is the least amount of ref interference in baseball, especially if we get the ABS challenge. I like the direction overall on the viewership aspect.

I am now completely anti-Shohei. I'm not one of those saying the Dodgers are ruining the game, I'm one saying Shohei is by taking $2M per year to play for them. If there was a way to balance out the spending, I feel baseball would attract a lot more eyeballs with sports like NBA really floundering of late. And if we banned Shohei for his gambling ;) then we'd take away the biggest culprit of the unfair spend when the Dodgers can pay him pennies.

Maybe because they don't have a backup shortstop. They chose to send Fermin to the minors.

I know the weather hasn't been great but I've been shocked at the sparse crowds this year other than opening day. Today I thought I was watching a crowd in Miami or Pittsburgh.

They made it too f*cking hard to consume their product. Here I am, a diehard STL fan going back to the McGwire years when I was a kid. I live 6 hours from STL and I'm paying for MLB.TV and also have to buy a VPN to bypass their blackout rules. I've got my laptop streaming to my TV so I can actually watch the game on a large screen. All I want to do is turn the Cards on and enjoy the game. I just got sick of having to try so hard. One of the first rules of business is "don't make it hard for your customers to use your product."

Add that difficulty to the crappy product on the field and I'm pretty much checked out. I used to be the guy who would watch spring training games all the way through. I knew our top prospects coming up the system. Now, I bet I couldn't name 5 guys on the team.

I get they have the FanDuel thing now which is great, but I'm passed the point of caring.

MLB needs a hard cap, say $300 million for salaries, no games like the Dodgers are playing here. Take the average salary the player will be paid over the life of the contract and that is the number that the team uses. No team should be running a $500 million dollar payroll. Throw in minimum salary floor of $100 million and be done with it.

Got it. Yeah, that is dumb. I live in Minneapolis so was blacked out from watching the opening series and I can't watch the Twins, who I would otherwise enjoy watching. Completely get that.

By MLB, I suspect he's talking about their money-grubbing network system that shuts off access to a lot of people. Not the rule changes.

We had to subscribe to "streaming" this year to get all the Cardinal games.

Monday's game was an all time record low in attendance under 21K, first time ever. I know a lot of people that went down every year, that are not going this season. Tired of the high cost of everything and the penny pinching by the ownership group. I read Monday, they were selling hot chocolate in the stands, guy asked "how much" and they said $14 dollars for a cup, he passed.

I've been real pleased by the team so far this year. Pitching has been good. Hitting has been great other than Winn and Contreras. Contrary to what someone here said, they are bringing in runners. They look like a different and better team compared to last year. It's early but, doggone, 1st place in the division?

Yeah, we're tired of the high costs too. Probably won't go to StL again this year. We've seen them in Cincy the past two years.

My kids don't like baseball but they have tolerated that Dad does. Last summer we went to STL to catch a game. I think we sat first row in the third deck behind home plate. I want to say the tickets were $50 each. $200 for tickets + $25 to park + $50 for food/drink (we even ate before the game but kids are kids) = $275 for a family of four. That's not including the hotel and gas to get there from DSM. Add it all up and it's a $500+ expense for 3 hours of entertainment.

Like many people dealing with rising prices, we have to make decisions on where we spend our money. Going down there for a game is very low on my list anymore.

We saw them in Cincy a couple of series when our boys were in high school, we could get better seats and they were half what it would have cost us in St. Louis. Any place in the midwest other than Chicago is going to be cheaper than St. Louis for tickets, food and drink.

We had Direct TV for years when we lived in Bloomfield to catch that Cards on Fox Sports Midwest, since moving to Ames, we stream and kept Direct, manly to continue to watch the Cards. Ours sons living out of state, use our streaming to watch them from time to time.

It was a day game, on a Wednesday, in April, the weather was iffy. when nobody has much optimism about the team. Kids are still in school.

But that was a shockingly bad turnout for St. Louis, of all places.

(There was a possibility I might have been in the area in early May, and I was looking at tickets on Stub Hub for a day game against the Pirates. Redbird Club seats - press box level between the bases, with their own dedicated concession area and inside seating, probably the best value seats at Busch - were available for $18. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. They’re around $75 face value.)

My brother has sat in those seats the last couple of years, 2 years ago they were around $150 a seat, last season they were around $100, he purchase early if he had waited they were around $80 by game time. The scalpers are going to take a killing this season on Cards games.
