Based on the seed scoring, UNI could seriously win this with a couple upsets. This could be their year.

Agreed. Looking at the scores based on seeds and no bonus points, the placement would be OSU, UNI, ISU. UNI is only about 9 points behind OSU. One or two upsets and that could change. Incidentally, Cyclones are in a comfortable third, but on paper doesn't usually count for much.

Ran through brackets front and backside and here is what I came up with for ISU (maybe just a hint of cardinal colored glasses)

125 - 5th. Have him losing to Figs in the quarters and going through Ricks (UVU) and Jordan (SDSU) before beating Anderson (UNI) in 5th place match.

133 - 1st. His semifinal match with Burwick scares me a bit (I think Burwick is the second best 133 in the bracket and he has beaten Evan before). Evan should be feeling good Saturday and Sunday night.

141 - 2nd. If Evan can get my Edmond (tough match up has to avoid upper body), I like him in a rematch with Happel to get a shot at a former national champ in the finals. We know Frosts gas tank is huge, so what can he do late in these matches?

149 - 1st. I like his path to the finals and I do believe he will be on a mission against Realbuto given how the last match ended. Teague Travis is a potential landmine for this bracket.

157 - 2nd. Have him losing to Fish in the finals, would obviously be a winnable match for him. Could have a tricky quarters match with Dowling (WVU) who hasn’t been on the mat much this year and has potential.

165 - 8th. Have him wrestling to seed. Losing to Berraclough (UVU) in the quarters, beating Vorhees (Wyo) on the backside before losing the Rhodes (SDSU) in the Consi quarters, and losing to Thomsen (UNI) in the 7th place match. Win either of those last two matches and he will be in Philly.

174 - 5th. Losing to O’Toole in the quarters before beating Schmidt (CBU) and Conley (WVU) in the Consi quarters to secure his bid. Loses to DeVos (SDSU) in the Consi semis before beating Simma (UNI) in the 5th place match.

184 - 4th. Have him wrestling to seed. Interesting match up with Parker (OU) in the quarters before meeting the tall task of Keck in the semis. Beats Brenot (NDSU) in the Consi semis before taking 4th losing to Berge (SDSU) in the 3rd place match.

197 - 6th. Have Nate wrestling to seed. Beats Meissner (ASU) first round before falling to Voelker (UNI) in the quarters. Beats Cassatt (Mizz) and Burburija (Air Force) before falling to Glazier (SDSU) in the Consi semis and Voelker beats him in the 5th place match. Curious to see what Schon can do several hours after weigh ins/Saturday night sessions.

285 - 4th. Have him taking out Runyon (UNI) in the quarters before losing to Schultz (ASU) in the semis. Likely sets up a Consi semi against Mora (OU), which is a bad match up for him but very winnable. I think he gets it done and he loses to Nitzel (Mizz) in the 3rd place match.

These results would almost undoubtedly put us in the top 3 in the team race.

I think we send 8 to Philly with a somewhat realistic shot at sending 165 with how the bracket sets up. Even 197 would only have to pull 1 “upset” to be in Philly.

This has to be best case scenario. There's just to many spots where it's hard as hell to know what you're going to get. If even half of those places come to fruition like you have above, it would be a fantastic weekend.

Obviously it’s all match up based and can change very quickly.

I like how a couple of the brackets set up for our guys to wrestle above seed (125, 174, 285)

Nothing ever goes chalk in the post season though.

I called Schon vs Glazier on the radio, and I may be crazy, but I think Schon has more than a puncher's chance to win that one. Glazier's shoulder is not going to miraculously get better from the grind of a 2-day tournament, and Glazier was really gassed towards the end and Schon made a mistake on an intentional release of letting Glazier grab an ankle and hang on because Glazier would have gotten taken down again and lost.

If Schon can make it to Glazier, I would not be surprised to see Glazier mff at that point. He didn't look like a guy that can handle the grind in Brookings when I watched him.

I have to be at Kingdom Hoops today during the opening session. Place is an iron dome where cell service goes to die, and I’m not too happy about it.

Same. Level 5. My cyclone wrestling tee is unfortunately under my gymnastics hoodie.
Nice. Mine is in the Xcel division (Sapphire). That team stuff requires SO much practice time. She couldn’t do anything else, and wanted to run track.

I’ll likely be sporting Iowa State gear. Definitely a hat.
