Nah, they are bad. Very bad. We played like absolute dogsh*t in those games.

Fans white knighting all week against literally any “perceived” negative take/reaction/opinion, any semblance of criticism or frustration, etc. has been sort of fascinating to follow on these boards.

“But! But! The quad system!” :D

I promise, Coach, it’s fine bud! I promise, the coaches and players are focused on their stuff and not worried about our fans being normal fans that are correctly acknowledging/discussing their favorite team that has factually sustained some really bad losses (and poor play) since mid-January. Games that - even with injuries - it had no business losing, and will pay the price on the seed like for doing so.

Can the team still make a deep run despite these games where they’ve played horribly? Yep! Last night was a great start to March. LFG!
lol, I’m not white knighting anything. Yes, they played bad in those losses, im not denying that at all.

The committee doesn’t go,” hey let’s run back that ISU/WVU game and let’s see how bad ISU played”. They look at the quad system. That’s just fact. Obviously there is more that goes into their findings but the Q1 and Q2 is real.

You’re right, we had no business losing to K-State or OK St.

But at the end of the day a Q2 loss is meh. Now, the Q3 one is bad, like I said.

Agreed on last night, we’ll be fine and I, for one, am looking forward to this teams march run!

Thank you. And honestly nobody at Iowa State has ever told CW or me we can’t say something. But as we’ve gotten older (hopefully wiser) being over reactionary gets tiresome. It’s a long season that has many ups and downs and we try to stay level for good or bad. Thanks for listening and everyone’s support of the advertisers that keep this place running.
I really appreciate your level of awareness and not trying not to get too high when things go good or too down when things go bad. Most fans focus on the last game and project the team’s performance into the future. Although that’s fine in forums, like the fact that CW and you don’t fall into that trap.

Game score of 100 on Torvick yesterday, only 7th time under TJ that's happened in 136 games.
really? it didnt feel like they were that good. i was expecting 90-95.

going off from 3 really helps the metrics i guess. and doing so in a high percentage and volume helps too.

His system really likes Arizona and has them ranked 10th. I think our adjusted offense and defense also jumped by about 5 spots after yesterday's win.

We also keep getting the ball poked away at a preposterously high rate, "go after the ball" is definitely in the scouting report for ISU.
We dribble too much in the lane. Our bigs need to make a decision and go. Jackson, Jefferson and Milan all try to slowly back down the defender.

So did anyone else's broadcast not label the game as our basketball game but rather a hockey game? I was able to watch live, but went to rewatch just now and it's not in my dvr because of this. Hopefully it's in the espn app.

Makes sense why I can't find it on YoutubeTV...was hoping to watch it today but didn't look like it recorded.

The Williams and Blum pod is the best thing I listen to each week.

My constructive feedback is that CW tends to apply the overly emotional or fanatic 5% to the rest of us and it gets annoying. It listens like Chris is the one who can tell fans what they should and shouldn’t be talking about. Like why can’t fans rationally talk about Heise’s production (so awesome to see him rebound from last month) or Watson’s minutes or why TJs teams tend to hit a February lull? But Chris often blows those things up to the point where it sounds like he’s condescending to fans. Just like his tweet last night - 5 mins after a big win, he throws out a TJ defense tweet which seems like he’s trying to dunk on fans. Why? We are all in this together…

Why give the loud and obnoxious the platform and why not talk directly with the rational fans? We are all prone to being overemotional (it’s why we are fans and why we buy tickets and donate money) but have noticed Chris almost seems bitter towards fans lately. I’m probably reading into it too much but, again, want to provide the constructive feedback. Keep up the good work and glad our guys got a much needed Top 25 win again.

I tend to agree with you on this. I don’t care about the tweet either way but did find it odd.

For me, it’s always how it comes off “you people need to realize……” or “listen everyone, all of you need to calm down” or whatever. My instantly goes to the 5% or handful of posters on this board (we know who they are). Just don’t talk to us like we are 5.

I'm guessing that 5% is really loud and obnoxious to Chris so I'm sure it gets old. I can understand wanting to shut them up.

Everything is a balance. You can obviously go too far with it but it's also ok to discuss things that we would like to see different or could be improved. We're fanatics on a message board. It's kind of the point and it's fun to have some discussion about strategy and different options. Doesn't mean I think I'm as good of a coach as Otz. Also, especially with this team, there is potential for an extremely deep run so of course we are going to be more nit-picky. We all see the potential!

Guys, what you're taking about is mid westerners having thin skin. Having traveled all over the country and lived almost everywhere for an extended time through work, you come to notice that we don't take criticism well. Like a combination of stubborn farmer mixed with Iowa nice sensitivity.

I had the same issue. I wasn’t happy considering I love to watch the next day after a win but there’s been so many on espn + etc I have about half recorded unfortunately

My guess the reason he does this is because the 5% of overly emotional fans are the ones that he hears from the most. If he heard from the other 95 percent more, maybe he wouldn’t feel the need to tell fans to calm down and that we have it pretty good with TJ at the helm.

And probably been hearing from those 5% for 6 straight months since the football season opener. After that long it’s gonna annoy anyone
