Not exactly sure.
To warn you in advance, they are purposely ****ty in the same way the old monster movies were!

Looks like a fun girl to know.

Also, I've been busy with everything so I haven't really had some free time. If people are bored, I probably have something to keep them busy while still being social distanced.

I have re-read two random books*. I really think I need to read something new.

*'Salem's Lot and Jurassic Park. I had forgotten what an ******* Hammond was in the book, not the dottering, idealistic little fool that Richard Attenborough played in the film.
Compys got him.
I know I am responding to my own post, but this line of thinking fits in this thread perfectly. I was just thinking how different the first Jurassic Park movie would have been if Richard Attenborough's brother, David Attenborough, had played Hammond instead.

Hammond (through the park's PA system):
"Despite the lawyer's feeble attempts to flee and hide, the magnificent hunter still succeeds in making the kill. Now the Tyrannasaur will feed on his prey..."

Where they love the governor
Unfortunately I don't currently have boredom issues right now, if anything this current situation has made things more hectic than they usually are in our household. Wife is working from home and probably putting in more hours than usual plus having either 1 or both kids home at the same time too. The oldest is in kindergarten so we had to keep her occupied with stuff during the day and our youngest is 3 so we still send her to daycare on days my wife has a busy day of meetings and phone calls where the 3 year old makes it hard for her to be able to talk and present on some calls when she may be in the background throwing a fit or something. I have been going into the office all this time and had additional responsibilities put on my plate as well so just getting any amount of down time is refreshing at the moment. Most nights once we get the 2 kids to bed we just want to relax for a couple hours and many nights my wife is so worn out from the day she usually falls asleep on the couch while we are watching a show.

I've got a whole list of projects around the house I'd like to do if I ever find some spare time to do them. I had high hopes I would be able to get to some of the neglected places in the house that need cleaned up and organized this year but since they canceled our city spring cleanup day where you could dispose of stuff for free and places were closed for donations too those things are basically on the back burner until I have a way to get rid of stuff again. They keep pushing back the start date of the rec softball league I usually play one night a week and I completely understand why. Sounds like that may finally start in 2 weeks now that restrictions have been lifted so at least for me that will be a nice release to be out of the house 1 night a week for something I normally would be doing this time of the year.

This is somewhat similar to my situation. Kiddos at home for 2 months, just went back to daycare this week. Both of us working from home and trying fend off pay cuts (suceeded in one instance) and layoffs (succeeded in both instances, for now).

This has not been a relaxing time at Ctown's house.

Not to be a nit picker, but those old monster movies weren't purposely ****ty. They were made fast with budgets that wouldn't even pay for the catering on a modern movie set.

Yeah, we ENJOY them because they are hokey.
There are some 50's Sy Fy movies that would probably be pretty good if made today with even a moderate budget. Look at Cronenberg's remake of The Fly or John Carpenter's remake of The Thing.

Whether or not you are working right now, I think boredom and doldrums have it everyone to some degree.

What is the weirdest thing you have done to amuse yourself during this time? I made a playlist about songs about birds (harder than it sounds), and also photoshopped different sea life into photos from the 1950s to look like monster movies.

Anyone else going nuts slowly? What is keeping you from going The Shining?
The inability to type.

I installed some old computer games. The Sims and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Games that I played as a child. Much different to try to be successful without using money cheats. Also, harder to build a 10,000 square foot house with 10 grand pianos.

I installed rollercoaster tycoon as well! Also age of empires, madden 2007 and busted out my SNES emulator to play final fantasy 6.

The one tradeoff for the added stress and work load is I will say I do feel fortunate and blessed that neither of our jobs are in jeopardy of being cut back or laid off. Plus we actually got some additional compensation for the added work that got put on our plates and for me especially I basically am getting "hazard pay" for still reporting into the office. We've been donating a portion of that extra income along with part of the stimulus check that we weren't anticipating on before this all went down to things like local food pantries or other causes that can hopefully help someone impacted by COVID. We figured that money hopefully can make an impact on people who are struggling right now and hopefully it takes some kind of burden off someone that lost their job or is struggling to pay bills or buy groceries because of lost income.

I honestly wish syfy/supernatural/monster movies were at least occasionally made with non-digital props and special effects. It's almost more entertaining to see how they film them.
