The injury/surgery curse of 2019 is starting again in 2020. Another rule #2 violation. Boxster's Simplified Baseball Rules; #1 Have Good Players; #2 Stay Healthy.

And one day after I read how last years weakness at starting pitcher was now a strength. Guessing they might now be glad they didn't find a way to dump Happ like so many internet fans where clamoring to do.

Unexpected move by the Twins. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. It's hard to see them give up on Graterol for what amounts to a maybe slightly above average pitcher. Maybe there really were no options otherwise and this is what they could get, but it feels like a bit of a let down.

I think it's a good move. Fireballing kid pitchers are never a sure thing. Twins were built to win their weak division last year. Some good acquisitions now make them really good playoff contenders (at least on paper) for the postseason.

Reading some of the follow up on the Athletic regarding the trade, the consensus is that Graterol was no sure thing and getting another SP with a manageable salary was a win. I'm just having a hard time picturing any of these guys walking in to Yankee Stadium and holding them down. Another off-season with the coaching staff will hopefully bring about further improvement. I suppose given the modest salary increase this trade incurs, it's possible they will remain ready to pull the trigger during the season too.

Wow lots of movement. LA definitely trying to buy this thing.

how exactly are they buying this? They have plenty of farm talent, that they felt comfortable to move in order to acquire betts, but lets not go acting like they have made large FA acquisitions.

Look at their projected lineup, other than betts, they are all guys that have come through their system(seager, bellinger, lux, smith) or that they have found and developed (muncy/turner).

They are just trying to get better. Big test on the money side will come next year when Betts is a free agent. Going to be yuge dollars.

agree, but seeing how they have ‘missed out’ on the likes of harper, machado, rendon, and cole, i could see them trying to be legit players for betts

Seems the whole blockbuster trade is being held up by the Red Sox now over concerns about Brusdar Graterol’s medicals. Not sure if legit or just using as leverage now that everyone has fallen in love with the deal after it was made public. Maybe a little of both. Concerns over the injury/health are legit but how could they not know about that until now, guys been injury prone and a gamble all along. Projecting him as stepping in and throwing even 150 innings would be fantasy stuff.

After a lot of blowback by Red Sox fans, their rookie GM tried to stiff the Twins for another top ten prospect after claiming bogus medicals. The Twins have said 'screw you' and are no longer part of the huge Betts trade. Just as well.

I support that move by the Twins. The Red Sox were dicking everyone around by not finalizing the trade they agreed to. Graterol is fine. It's clear as day the Red Sox had second thoughts and got greedy.

Glad the Twins stuck to their guns and didn't end up adding a top ten prospect as the Red Sox demanded. The Twins starting pitching staff will now be a good complement to their top 5 offense. Nice off season by the Twins.

"MLB is seriously weighing a move from five to seven playoff teams in each league beginning in 2022, The Post has learned.

In this concept, the team with the best record in each league would receive a bye to avoid the wild-card round and go directly to the Division Series. The two other division winners and the wild card with the next best record would each host all three games in a best-of-three wild-card round. So the bottom three wild cards would have no first-round home games.

The division winner with the second-best record in a league would then get the first pick of its opponent from those lower three wild cards, then the other division winner would pick, leaving the last two wild cards to play each other."

The Astros really looked bad in their presser yesterday expressing their reaction to getting caught in the garbage can scandal. The owner Crane was the most ridiculous saying it gave them 'no advantage' to Verlander saying he 'wished he could have done more'. They acted like they didn't know which obvious questions were coming. Maybe they needed a trash can.

Agreed. It just shows they're not actually sorry for what they did, just sorry they got caught.

The idea that this "didn't affect games" is about as big of a BS statement as you'll ever hear. If it didn't affect the outcome, then why were you doing it? Just for fun? Also, why are you apologizing if it didn't affect anything?

Great job by the reporter to ask that question of why he the owner was apologizing if it didn't affect the outcome.

I see the A's aren't doing radio this year. Man, shooting hoops while listening to ballgames was my childhood.
