Twins sign veterans Homer Bailey and Rich Hill. Not top starters any more but this is a classic Twins move to see if they can contribute late in their careers. Glad they added somebody.

Sounds like the Twins offered $85 million/4 years for Donaldson. Not surprised the Twins probably have the lowest four year offer, but Donaldson is probably not worth the $110 million he's asking for.

Cards trade Jose Martinez and Arozarena to the Rays for a top 100 pitching prospect

Couple nice arbitration avoiding raises of note:

    MLB.com

"Judge and the Yankees agreed Friday to a one-year contract worth $8.5 million, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, a figure that represents a significant raise over the star’s 2019 salary of $684,300."

"The Twins not only avoided arbitration with third baseman Miguel Sanó on Friday, but they agreed with the slugger on a three-year, $30 million extension, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. "

What exactly could the Cubs even trade for him?

A little surprised there is not more of a financial or draft pick penalty to it. The suspensions to me aren't a huge deal. But you can really punish them by taking away money from their international signing pool and more than just what amounts to 4 total draft picks. I get it, it's their highest 2 picks in a 40 round draft where it's not a given your top picks will eventually make it to the big leagues so why not make the penalty really hurt and take away picks for the next 5 years? Maybe even put a cap on their payroll for a certain number of years too. That's where you can really make the dent is making it harder for them to stock their minor leagues with talent and limiting the money they can spend which in turn would give them a competitive disadvantage.

Think I heard that 5 million is the max fine possible due to some type of agreement.

I guess I'm kinda surprised if they found out they were cheating it wasn't more. Pete Rose got a lifetime ban for gambling, but you have an entire organization found to be cheating and two guys get a year ban?

I think it's a pretty fair penalty. But I also think there's multiple teams doing something similar

Alex Cora I'm guessing will get at least a year as well. Also the 2018 Red Sox are up next.

If Cora is found to have done it for both the Astros and Red Sox give him the permanent boot. From what I gather he's the one who thought it up and put it into place for the Astros.

Judge's agent sold way too cheap on that contract.

Twins sign the newest member of the Bomba Squad. Donaldson signs for four years at $23 million a year. Also improves their defense at third with Sano moving over.
