O-M head coach Kim DeJongh knew this was going to be a point of attack for her team.

“It worked to our advantage, by them getting down to four players,” said DeJongh. “... It was a point of emphasis. We went into halftime with them having two girls with three fouls, so we were attempting to attack them to hopefully get it to the situation of having four.”

My High School girlfriend's team only had 6 people total, and had to dress 5 several times. This happened to them a lot actually. Normally the other team would go down to four as well and they'd do 4-4. Some refused to. This was in 8 man football country.

Teams refused to? I'm not sure why you would penalize your own team because the other team doesn't have numbers and can't stay out of foul trouble.

Ya I get that, it's an extremely small and not that competitive of a conference. Probably not even around anymore.

Refused is probably a poor choice of words. I guess more times than not teams would always match up on numbers, so it seemed normal to us. I don't think it was ever requested that they go down on players.

One game they ended up playing 3 on 5 for awhile.

Not exactly sure.
I played two JV games with 5 players. First one, a teammate asked they coach what the roll of tape sitting on the bench next to him was for. He said if someone gets hurt I’m taping them up and throwing them back in.

Had one teammate pick up 4 fouls late in the third so we moved to a zone and put them in a safe spot. We won that game also. Against Mr.Jannys hometown.

Good ol' Diagonal. I miss the old Bluegrass Conference. Fox Valley, Russell, and Lineville-Clio are all closed and Diagonal can't be far behind. Playing basketball in tiny, hot gyms. Good times.

I've heard Diagonal has money, but students also spend half the day at Mt. Ayr.

How about because its ******* high school basketball and sportsmanship should mean something? Maybe that's why?

In D1/1-AA or NBA, sure. Play your best five against whatever they have. But at lower levels it just doesn't matter. If people's livelihoods weren't involved, I'd say it didn't matter at these levels either. It's just a game.

Why 9-11 and not 9-12? Seems weird as some high schools are 9-12, some are 10-12.
Interesting data though.

I'm trying to figure out what's going on with 364. I tried googling but all I get is they only have 4 students, men only, and serves grades 9-10.

edit: and thanks for that info, it assisted me in finding out the school I was referring too merged into a regional school.

Calm down, ****. Teams are still playing games to win. Nobody is pulling their fifth starter in a close game.

Maroonettes?
I graduated HS in 1980 and our high school didn't have girls sports until the early/mid 70's and I think that was common for other schools too. When more schools got girls sports they felt they needed a more feminine name for the team name. We were the Cyclones/Cyclonette's. I never understood why they had to distinguish them that way. Now you see it more as Cyclones/Lady Cyclones but I'm still not sure why one name doesn't work for both.

...

I think the data is compiled during the summer to predict enrollment for the upcoming school year. Not sure how grade 9 is handled although with public high schools it seems pretty easy to predict. Are there any 10-12 private schools?
