Normally yes but he’s dragging us along with him. Some of the damage is already done. No ones going to read what actually happened.

Eh, I think the pocket room incident several years ago might beg to differ. Barta isn't even liked by most hawk fans, so his words carry less weight than you might think.

Wow. Iowa releases presser accusing ISU fans of misconduct towards their band. Iowa band director says nothing about this when meeting ISU band director. Four cops accompanying the band reported nothing and nothing was reported to them during the game. I'd think this was Iowa sour grapes but they won the game and are still acting sour? Sounds like lowball politics more than responsible interaction between two state universities from the same freaking state. Like Barta couldn't pick up the phone and call our AD? Nope, just throw some **** against a wall and see if it sticks?

Easy remedy, just don't allow their band to come here in two years and don't send ours to IC next year.

How low class is it to produce a press release without actually talking to Iowa State administration. There really is no reason for the press release AT ALL. But to do it without any prior conversations, just scream hatchet job. Barta wanted to make Iowa State look bad.

Agree. I don't want to watch the hok band in JT and i'm sure they feel the same way about us.

Honestly they should stop sending the bands now. Regardless of the outcome there will be fans with retaliation on their mind next year.

Truth. It's bad enough without this sort of fanning of the flames. JFC, in the ESPN article their band director refused to disclose anything at all. What ********.

Should have just told them to **** off, and then issued our own letter of investigations of fan misconduct at Kinnick
Pollard handled this as best as possible. He is doubling down on Barta's hollow accusations. When ESPN and the AP updates their articles, it's going to show Barta's vague press release then JP stating the facts: officers saw nothing, UI band director said nothing, UI never contacted ISU before the release. Something could have happened but if the band director quoted in the national media never mentioned anything the night of, this makes Barta and Iowa Athletics look even more moronic than it already is (and that says a lot).

I imagine the scenario went something like this

Band members sharing war stories about what happened after the game with some embellishments thrown in. Parents get wind of these embellishments and approach Barta. Barta goes all Barta and fires from the hip. Story blows up. Suddenly band members have nothing to say.

It’s essentially a smear campaign. No one other than ISU and Iowa fans are reading past the accusatory headline. Responding with “looking into it” adds legitimacy
