Interesting new rankings just came out at 538.

Monte compares favorably with Tyus Jones and Fred VanVleet among current NBA players, which makes sense.

Interesting to see the historical comparison to Steve Nash(!).

Here's hoping Monte keeps up his solid trajectory next year and gets paid with a nice extension from the Nuggets next year.

He needs to get the **** away from the Nuggs. He can go get paid more somewhere else.

What he needs to do is play better in the playoffs this next year (god-willing) to ensure a big payday. Not sure if he should be in a hurry to leave the team that gave him a chance, passes the most in the league, and helped him rework his jumper to make him 40%+ 3-point shooter.

We'll see - I have a feeling Monte would rather contribute on a winning team like the Nuggets than make more money to start on a crappy team.

Plus there's still a long way to go before Monte and the Nuggets need to make a decision - with Murray signed he's likely not going anywhere, but Gary Harris could be a wild-card for Monte's future. Murray and Morris looked pretty good playing together but I don't think Harris can be on the floor at the same time with those two (too small on defense).

The Nugs just signed Murray to a 5 year extension. Not sure how that factors into his plans with them for the future.

Monte is unfortunately signed thru 2021. He probably makes a list at some point of top underpaid players in a league that overpays for anyone and everyone

If the Nuggets want to keep him beyond his current contract, they will almost certainly offer him an extension next summer so he's already locked up going into the 2020-21 season.

Alternatively, due to his current contract, he could also become a valuable trading chip (although it's hard for me to see how this would happen at the moment).

You read the press from the Nuggets they like him and more than likely will pony up the cash when his contract comes due. I'm guessing he is already making more than most on CF, I openly admit he's making more than me.

Which means, without injury, he will probably get a huge over paid contract in a couple years.

Hopefully he doesn't run out of money by then... I love Monte, but based on his spending habits from what he posts on his social media, it seems he loves to spend money like he's on a max contract

That's how contracts in the NBA (and most leagues work). You get young talent cheap the first couple of years and then they blow up. After this contract runs out he'll make a significant jump.
