Wigginton has started to embrace his role. If he can be more consistent then this team is deadly.
In 2012-13 McGee was our second leading scorer while being 6th on the team in minutes at around 25 minutes/gm. He was second in shot attempts per game and the top scorer per 40 minutes and per 100 possessions. He excelled in that instant offense role, having our highest offensive and PER rating.
It would be fantastic for Wigginton to be McGee-like down the stretch. Imo the staff “asking” Wigginton to play that role on this team put Wigginton in a position to highlight his best attributes while hiding his weaknesses under the guise of team needs. Whether intentional or not, it could work out for the best for the team and Wigginton.
