...in effective FG% (among qualified players).

Effective FG% takes into account the extra value of threes.
  • If you go 3-5 on 2ptFG, that's a 60% FG% and a 60% eFG%.
  • If you go 2-5 on 3ptFG, that's a 40% FG% but a 60% eFG% (because you scored the same number of points as going 3-5 on 2ptFG).
The easy way to calculate eFG% is (FGM + 0.5*3ptFGM) / FGA

Prior to Saturday's games, Scott had an eFG of 73.0%, which led the nation: https://natstat.com/wbb/stats/player-advanced

Iowa's Gustafson is #4 at an eFG% of 70.7%, which is pretty impressive given she's only attempted one three all season.

In conference games, Scott's eFG% is a ridiculous 79.2%.

When somebody shoots that good they really ought to be benched for a while to bring them back down to earth. :p

Gustafson is really outstanding in the paint. Kristin plays really well both inside and outside. Hopefully more people will start jumping on the WBB bandwagon. Yeah I know I'm preaching to the choir on this thread.

She is on quite the streak in conference play, for sure!

Indeed. Not making easy baskets against bad competition. She's doing it against Big 12 teams!

I miss the days when Mrs. Velo had season tickets through her job. I made it to a game with her whenever I was back in town.

Scott has fallen to #2 in the nation behind Gustafson (70.4% to 70.0%). She hasn't been shooting quite as well recently, so that's not a surprise. It's still a ridiculously high number.

Not shooting the crazy percentage, especially from three, but averaging a double/double (18.7 & 10) the last four games.

Scott is #1 nationally in 2-point shot percentage as of today according to Official Iowa State Site:

Kristin Scott has been making waves in her sophomore campaign. She ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring (17.0 PPG) and sixth in rebounding (7.7 RPG) in conference games. She is currently No. 1 in the nation in 2-point field-goal percentage, knocking down 72.1 percent. Her 61.3 percent from the floor on the year ranks second in the Big 12 and 27th nationally.

Caught bits and pieces of the OU game and jumped in last night with about 4 to go in the 3rd. Only been to a handful of games ever and the most recent was 5 years ago. Mainly just watch when they're in the tourney but that's going to change now. Kicking myself for missing Carleton's career and won't make the same mistake again. Wife and I have 2 young girls who aren't really into the men's games we've been taking them to consistently since they were born. Never know with young kids but I could see them taking more of an interest in the ladies. Definitely considering Jr. Cyclone Club and at least one GA adult season ticket for next year. Gonna try to test the waters Monday and hopefully a couple tourney games in March. Basically this was my way too long winded way of saying consider me on the bandwagon!
