I'm not buying #5. Against Texas, we got inside their defense continually, but just couldn't finish baskets that we (or anyone really) normally make. Against OU, we scored 75, on the road. That's hardly being stopped.

Yeah, I think it's just more a case of a couple games of cold shooting. If teams really are forcing ISU out of their comfort zone on offense and they're still putting up 75 points then it's probably not much to worry about.

Not sure there is a 'book' for having 4 (or 5) dudes on the floor that can hit from all spots.

Jacobson was my co-player of the game along with Shayock. Hopefully Marial has his confidence back. That game against Texas was brutal.

The team maybe a little tired and that maybe causing some of the issues. 3 games in 6 days may have caught up to this team a little. Having this long lay off then the bye week will help this team a lot going forward.

People bemoaning the offense vs. UT should rewatch that game. It was open 3s and layups all game long, vs. man and zone. ISU got what they wanted pretty much all game. Shoot layups and open 3s at even a modest clip and that game's a blowout. In both games ISU had success going through Lard, THT and Jacobsen in the high post vs. the zone. Wigginton got in the lane from the wing vs. the 2-3 whenever he wanted. ISU is figuring out how to beat a zone. You don't see it enough, so it takes some time to get good at attacking it, and that's even harder with new guys and roster uncertainty through the year.

Agreed on this. Against Texas, the team looked tired. They had a short turnaround for Oklahoma, which didn't help. Get these guys some rest and we should be fine down the stretch.

Jacobsen said he wasn't feeling well in the second half of the Texas game. He had a good first half against Texas but faded in the second.

I agree the defensive strategy against ISU is pretty clear. Pack it in with some zone mixed in and make them shoot over you. It certainly beats the alternatives of pressuring on the perimeter, trapping, or trying to speed ISU up.

But I really liked the assertiveness I saw against OU. It may get stopped sometimes or lead to a few TOs but you've got to continue to try to force it towards the basket and finish strong when given the opportunity. Can't settle by catching the ball flat-footed, take a couple dribbles, and put up a contested jumper. Even with the struggles, I think the offense has turned a corner the last couple games in attitude.

That makes sense - ISU was great on the glass the first half and not so good the second half. That was one of the better halves I can remember for an ISU team on the defensive glass considering UT's length and athleticism. They were definitely not as strong in the 2nd half.

If “figuring out” how to stop our offense is to hold us to near our conference average shooting, we’ll be alright.
