Wrestling portion picks up around 49:40 mark.

My thoughts:
  • Why does Jared always start these wrestling discussions with a statement that he knows nothing about wrestling? Is it that hard to learn a little bit about the sport, or at least about the ISU team? Yet he drives the conversation. Can you imagine starting a talk about the football team with a statement "I know nothing about football. Let's begin!"?
  • Rob Gray has good knowledge about the ISU program and wrestling in general. I appreciate that he can ask questions that allow Jackie to talk about what's happening in the wrestling room. He kept this segment rolling.
  • I thought the comments about the difference between the Jackson era and the Dresser era were spot on.
  • Nice time management at the end. "Jackie - how close are some of these guys to competing for a championship? Never mind - We're out of time!"
  • Jackie's contributions were good, just wish we could have heard more from her. I enjoyed her insight into how the wrestlers feel about the season so far - obvious that she is following them closely and having conversations with them and the staff.
As always, I appreciate any wrestling tidbits that are thrown our way. Would like to see more.

I would like to see an interview with Metcalf on what he has learned coaching.

He has always been winning, as a wrestler and with Iowa and senior level. It had to be challenging at times last year; coaching a team the wasn't that good. Curious how he addressed that and what he learned as a coach from this experience

I have a feeling that we are going to get much more wrestling attention on CF in the near future as the team has made its turnaround and there are such good personalities associated with the team.

P.S. Imagine Jared in a singlet. Now try to not see it!

Give me a week and I’ll see what I can do for you! I like this idea.

I agree I wish Jackie got to answer the question at the end. The abrupt ending just made me laugh. Hopefully there are more conversations about Cyclone Wrestling on the show.

They should have just kept on recording and post the whole thing on the podcast version.

We'll do more wrestling going forward. People forget that we're trying to run a business here and for so long, we were covering wrestling and NOBODY would read it. I think that's starting to change.

As a fan, I've had a heck of a time learning more and more about the sport over the last few years. Developing a pretty solid relationship with Dresser too. We'll keep building up our coverage as long as people show us they will support it.

Here are some of my guesses why...
1. He is a basketball guy that knows nothing about wrestling.
2. He is playing the role of the average fan on this site because they also do not know anything about wrestling and are wondering why they should care.

I wrestled in High School, more than a few decades ago, and I do not recognize the sport anymore.

I do not have the first clue about where to go to get reacquainted with the sport.

So, fans, share your passion and knowledge about the sport. Help some of us really old farts out and potential new fans out and help us get connected to the sport. CF is giving you a platform to do it.

Unfortunately for this site, wrestling fans I know are very active on "general wrestling" sites. I don't see this site competing with them for the die hard wrestling fan's main discussion board. Hopefully, enough of them will come to this site to talk about "Cyclone wrestling" to draw in those of us who are Cyclone fans, but not necessarily wrestling fans yet. It seems that Dresser has gotten our attention.

P.S. Novice wrestling fans who missed the interactions with Pat Downey's father missed some of the most epic action ever on this site!

This is probably a stupid question but what is the best way to show we are supporting your wrestling coverage?
It is a good question.

My guess would be start threads talking about or arguing about wrestling. Don't worry about being right or wrong. This is the internet. That does not matter. Just express your opinion and then engage someone that it trying to tell you your wrong. That describes 99% of the content in threads about other sports.

Anyone have time to put together a match day thread for the OSU match?

Anyone want to start a ISU wrestling mega thread? Post links to articles about what is happening or already happened in wrestling? Give your opinions about the articles...

Just throwing ideas out here.

Tyler Durden started fight club by just having a fight with himself. Sometimes life does imitate art.

Get some buddies together and start the discussion...

I missed the Pat Downey discussion. Care to summarize what happened?

I'd be happy if when I clicked the "forums" tab up top i actually got a choice of forums to pick. There should be a drop down menu so I can pick the wrestling board.

Might help your wrestling traffic.

Just saying.

Instead i have to scroll down through people arguing about snow until i find a post on the wrestling board to actually see it.

When you click on Forums after it changes screen, you will see at the top in yellow Recent posts. Off to the side you will see Forum List. Click on that, and then scroll until you see wrestling. There will be every forum created for wrestling only.

Not a stupid question at all.

Activity is really the key. For instance, if I share a basketball or football story on Twitter, Facebook or the forums, people respond. They share it. They comment on it. Anything to show in a digital world that they care. With wrestling, we have never really had that.

The good news is that I see things picking up. I have talked to Dresser some too and do think that he's going to be willing to do some stuff on the site to promote his team too.

I'm not a wrestling guy but do enjoy the sport. I've learned a lot about it since Kevin took over. I'd like to help Dresser educate some newer fans about what they are doing too.

To answer your question though, like, share, click, comment, etc. That all helps spread the word and then when I look at the analytics, I see we aren't covering wrestling just for a few people.
