Thought I'd go crunch some numbers in an attempt to discover just how these two teams match up in some certain categories. Here's what I found:

Scoring offense - ISU 78.7 Ole Miss 79.4
Scoring defense - ISU 64.2 Ole Miss 68.1
Assist/TO ratio - ISU 1.57 (5th in the nation) Ole Miss 1.20
Fewest fouls - ISU 263 (10th in nation) Ole Miss 330
FG% offense - ISU 47.6 Ole Miss 49.2
FG% defense - ISU 40.5 Ole Miss 41.2
Free throws attempted - ISU 350 Ole Miss 357
Free Throw % - ISU 71.7 Ole Miss 74.5
Rebound margin - ISU 1.3 Ole Miss 5.0
3-pt FG% offense - ISU 36.2 Ole Miss 36.7
3-pt FG% defense - ISU 31.8 Ole Miss 34.3

Some conclusions - These are both high scoring teams. Ole Miss shoots a bit better, both from the floor and on the line, but Iowa State defense is better (except perhaps against the 3). Ole Miss is more prone to turnovers, or less prone to stealing the ball, I didn't look at the details. Each team gets to the line about the same, but Ole Miss is a very good shooting team there. However - Iowa State commits far fewer fouls (nearly 70 total!) and so that advantage may be negated. Ole Miss is a very good rebounding team also, considering they generally play a 4 guard offense like Iowa State.

The main benefit for the Cyclones is that defense usually travels....and so I see overall advantage ISU. Break it down!!!

Need to pressure their guards and turn them over. Also, sounds like LSU killed them with their front court, so Jacobson/Lard/Conditt could be a factor too.

Yes. LSU has a pretty good 4 man (can't remember his name) and he beat up Ole Miss in that game last week. In watching Ole Miss I came away with thinking they are a more athletic Iowa (without a cook player).
