What are your best blizzard foods? Are you prepping for the incoming apocalypse with a big pot of chili?

Anything involving mashed potatoes and gravy.....this weekend we just happened to have a nice, big Bells Mills bone-in ham, so I am porking out with NFL playoff football on Sunday. (Might have to watch EIU get pummeled by Illinois in basketball first.)

I have left over frozen turkey from Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll try making Turkey ala King. Of course by the time it's thawed it will be Sunday

Between homemade chili, chicken tortilla soup, chicken bacon ranch, and popcorn and appetizers we can have a few blizzard meals covered.

Also, We are now within easy walking distance of Hy-Five so we are never in danger of running out of food.

Chili or pot roast in the slow cooker are my go to meals for cold weekends. Currently have no plans to make either this weekend though...

I don't really change what I eat much, but chili or gumbo are good cold-weather staples.

Gumbo doesn't get enough love in the north, but it is fantastic. Along the same line, a shrimp boil (shrimp/corn on the cob/sausage/potatoes/crawdads) is an easy fix and good for keeping you warm.

Gumbo's fantastic but getting the roux right is a bit more work than a normal soup. The plus side is that I get to talk with a Cajun accent for that much longer.
