So we again have ESPN radio via 1350am added a few weeks ago, but now this week it appears 1700 The Champ is absorbing some of the talk radio programming as 98.3 (The Torch) becomes 98.3 The Vibe (Classic hip hop).

From their FB page:

Thank you to everyone who enjoyed lively local radio talk on the Torch! Rather than have you go to two separate locations, we invite you to catch great local information and commentary on our new home, Big 1700, starting Monday!

https://www.facebook.com/983TheTorch (the comments are pretty good entertainment. Seems the conservative audience isn't naturally transitioning to "The Vibe".

Backspin is one of my favorite channels on Sirius XM.

1350 KRNT is now ESPN Radio, but I heard Colin Cowherd's show on their station late last week around the 5-6pm hour. Seems strange to not just be running ESPN programming at that time and instead somehow run a syndicated show of a guy who just got fired by ESPN.

And what is happening to the CBS Sports radio stuff? I prefer their stuff, minus listening to Dan Patrick and just turning the talk radio off between 4-7, over the other options in town.

Love this new format. Finally a local station that I can listen to and recognize all the songs.

So I take it the local morning show will be gone, something with Jim Brinson as they are going to news in the day.

Funny the VP said 98.3 was doing terrible ratings barely a 1 share. 1700 isn't even getting that. Too bad they didn't scrap 1700 instead. Would love to see M+M finally be done in this market.

Check out their new sweet hawk themed logo:biglaugh:

I think it's 80s, 90s, and 2000s hip hop. Yesterday, I heard Erik B & Rakim, Salt n Pepa, LL Cool J, and Lil Jon in about ten minutes.
