This doesn't surprise me or tell the story I think you're trying to tell. For every 4 and 5 star there are 10(pure guess) 2 and 3 stars.
The Top 100 players that were drafted in 2013
17 were five-star prospects
23 were four-star prospects
33 were three-star prospects
27 were two-star prospects
You are correct. I'm just throwing numbers out there.
I totally get the percentages. However, the fact that 60% of the top 100 in the draft was comprised of 3 & 2 star recruits is interesting.
I don't know the exact numbers for how many of each star there are but:
5 star - 17 of 30ish (57%)
4 star - 23 of 200ish (12%)
3 star - 33 of 1000ish (3%)
2 star - 27 of everyone else (<1%)
Another way to look at it...
The Top 100 players that were drafted in 2013
17 were five-star prospects
23 were four-star prospects
33 were three-star prospects
27 were two-star prospects
So, basically, the odds of a 2 star talent actually being an NFL player are astronomically low, but we'll fight hard to convince ourselves that it's the road to great success.
