No. He got kicked out of Iowa for a reason.
Is the portal still open? I don't want to think the best of a Hawk, but maybe he saw the writing on the wall, after the way everything fell out over the past few weeks, and he just stirred things up enough to get bounced. If the portal is closed, that may be another way to get a transfer. Just how far off-based is this crazy scheme?

Portal doesn't matter anymore you just go enroll wherever you want. That's what Riggins did. Others have done the same

Iowa compliance would've nothing to do with Gabe leaving
Correct. Didn’t have anything to do with Bo not coming either. I’ll give Tom some credit…he screwed up real bad with the Bassett’s but Gabe did this all on his own. Sure letting a slumlord control your program is a horrible idea but Gabe had plenty of chances.

I mean we call and kick tires right? Haven’t lit the world on fire in upper weights last few yrs
Suppose it depends a little on the full story but yeah I would definitely err on the side of giving him a call. Slots up perfectly with one of the few “weak” spots in the lineup. 3 years left for him, would seem silly to not kick the tires a bit.

With 3 years left and high end upside we'd be crazy to not at least kick the tires and see if he can commit to keeping straight

just as long as he’s like riggins and not chittum. It’s still wild that he hasn’t made significant gains wrestling with Buchanan, PK, and Ferrari everyday in practice.

i think his frame makes him a 174 pounder only in my eyes. if he can stay focused and hold that weight i think he could AA there

He's got the tools and capability. Lost a couple very tight matches to Zack Ryder at u20 best of 3 trial finals last year. He lost in OT to McEnelly in february of this year. Beat Silas Allred at big 10's. If you told me he ended up being a 3x AA, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. But if he just rides the wave and is a couple time r12/16 and finds the podium 1x, I'm also not surprised.
